Nice hotel within a great neighborhood

Need improvement

Pros: The room is spacious and clean though.
Bathroom configuration is poor. You can bump your head when using the sink because there is a piece of counter hanging over it for your tumbler/face towels, etc., but it is so small that you cannot put your toiletery on. Floor is squeaky and you can hear people bang their doors when open or close. Though renovated, it still has the stale old structure smell. The bed is situated in such that you can feel the air blowing right towards your head. We have to turn the AC off in order to sleep. The worst thing happened to us is the valet parking scratched our car sometime during the overnight parking, so make sure you check before you drive away when you check out. The manager of the valet is extremely nice though. He reviewed the tape from the camera and takes the responsibility, file a claim for us.

I love this place

I had a wonderful experience. From check in to check out, the staff was attentive, helpful and knowledgeable. The food we ordered from room service and it was absolutely wonderful. My husband had filet mignon and I enjoyed the stuffed chicken with cheesecake for dessert. The room cost is reasonable but the fee for valet, bottled water and even charge for the self-serve coffee in the room-which I did not realize. The room and bed were comfortable. I will definitely return.

Beautiful, such a relaxing place.

1 day get away with my husband and it was perfect. Such a relaxing place to be in and able to forget about "reality" for a bit. From the valet, to check in, to the room. Everything has been thought about in such a perfect way. Definitely going back.

Quiet spot in beautiful Pasadena.

From the moment you valet your car, to the aroma in lobby, to the beautiful room with a very comfortable bed, you are somewhere special at this hotel. Our room had a view of the San Gabriel Valley. Stunning! The service at check in and in the bar were great, but I have to give special mention to the valet staff. They are very attentive and really nice. They start the stay off right! ($29 per night for guests is a bit steep in my opinion, but you know going in.)

Beautiful hotel. Service disappointing.

Pros: The hotel and landscape are beautiful
Cons: Staff needs training. Not professional enough to be considered the service of a 5 star hotel. Staff craved for tips but wouldn't work for it.
Location: In the middle of a quiet residential neighbourhood. Nothing within walking distance.
I have no complains about the hotel as it is beautiful. However, the staff will need more training. After arriving in our room, I called for a kettle to be brought to our room. After waiting for almost an hour, I called again to remind them I need a kettle, a kettle was quickly brought to our room, meaning they forgot about it the first time. Another thing that irritated me was that the hotel staff craved for tips. When we had our luggage brought to our room or had the valet parked/retrieved our car, a few staff would have their hands out ready to receive tips. This, in my opinion, was rather rude. So, while a nice hotel, the service ruined the experience.

Historic Hotel, some problems

Pros: Architecture and Gardens are fabulous
Cons: Staff are fine but not as positive about making sure guests are happy. Biggest problem with hotel is noise from hall and can hear people in next room
Location: Perfect location for pasadena, san marino and south pas.
