Sleeping on the floor

Booked 2 nights through Expedia, like I've done many times before with other hotels. When checking in, hotel said I only booked for one night, for the day after! Staff basically told me there's nothing they could do, and asked me to call Expedia instead -- how helpful and accommodating was that!
Called Expedia and was put on hold for more than 20 mins, while they were sorting it out. Finally, the Expedia guy told me it was all taken care of, and that I'd get the same room I booked for two nights. So I talked to the hotel staff again. Guess what?! They told me again that even though I did book 2 nights through Expedia, in their system it shows only booked for 1 night. And since they were "fully" booked, I can only get a room with King bed. Was travelling with people who can't share bed together (and that's why I booked for a double-bed room), but had no choice but to sleep on the floor! -- First time in my life paid for a 4-star hotel but had to sleep on the floor. And yeah, tell me there's any hotel that would get literally 100% fully booked!
Worst hotel experience ever. Period. Never going back to Renaissance.
