Hotel on the beachPosted Aug 2, 2015 on Hotels
Not a 5-star hotel, but rooms were comfortable & short 5 minute walk to Santa Monica pier. Staff are friendly, food is OK but nothing special, shelves in room were filled with books & little games, bed was comfortable. I would rate this a 4-star hotel in a 5-star location with 5-star room price tag

Nice location, expensive 3 star hotelPosted Jul 5, 2015
After reading lot of reviews and looking at the pictures online, we readily spent close to 800 bucks for a room . But after reaching there, most of the things about hotel were underwhelming. It appeared more like an expensive 3.5 star hotel.

The customer service could not be beat! Neither can the location or the view! The food was excellent and the pier was just a short walk away. Loved it and will be back!

Beauty and the Beach!Posted Jun 29, 2015
Pros: location, decor, elegance
Cons: ceiling fans in the room would be wonderful!
We had dinner at One Pico a few months back when we were vacationing in LA. It was outstanding! The decor, the food, the service, ambiance. So, when my husband was sent out to CA again for a business trip, i just knew that i wanted to stay at Shutters on the Beach. We were NOT disappointed! It was the perfect place to stay. We had dinner with friends at Coast, which was just as wonderful as One Pico, but on a more casual level. Our server, Danny, was the perfect waiter. He was funny, efficient, knowledgeable, timely. Our room, while not having the beach view we would have preferred, was beautiful! The perfect mix of coastal, warmth, class and comfort. We will DEFINITELY come back there to stay and happily recommend it to our friends.

A stay at Shutters is eye-openingPosted Jun 15, 2015 on Hotels
I had always wanted to stay at Shutters after enjoying their restaurants, but was disappointed by how much ambient noise I could hear between rooms. The plumbing was loud, noises from adjoining rooms and the room overhead was loud. For the price point I expected better sound-dampening between the rooms. Noise from the hall was loud too. The staff was friendly, as always, but I could see that the chrome hardware on the windows in the room, as well as in the restaurants, was pitted and in need of polish or updating. In the lobster roll the chef was too heavy with the onion. And, for the price of the hotel, it's a bit insulting to be asked to also pay $40 a day to park. I'll still recommend the restaurants to friends but, regretfully, not a stay at Shutters.
