Maybe the best value in LA. Excellent Staff.

Posted Mar 20, 2017
Pros: Location, Staff, pool, the bed, pretty much everything.
Cons: a noise buffer when doors close
Location: Close to where my son lives, close to shopping and fine restaurants.
The front desk was able to accommodate an extra 3 nights with no notice and did not gouge me on the price. I was stuck due to Boston Weather. A very comfortable bed and great pool. Great food t the restaurant.

No microwave, no fridge, and no kettle. Besides, the furniture is very old and the smell is very bad.

Nice swimming pool and in a good location

Posted Mar 17, 2017
Pros: location and pool
Cons: pillows
They kindly changed our room promptly - the first one smelled of smoke. Jacuzzi not working which was one of the main reasons I booked - wish they would let you know when you book. Lumpy pillows and for a four start hotel expected a more plush poolside bar and 'nice' cocktails .. felt a little like an all inclusive package effort.

They spent all the money on the lobby

Posted Mar 12, 2017
The hotel is little far away from everything. The lobby looks nice but the pool, hallway and rooms look old and run down. The walls are very thin and you can hear everything. The toiletries are made in China. No coffee machine.

Well-situated No Frills Hotel

Posted Mar 10, 2017
Pros: Location, location, location.
Cons: Post a sign or something reminding people that there are guests in the hotel who are trying to work and sleep.
Location: Close to the studios in Burbank, Universal and just over the hill from Beverly Hills and West Hollywood.
The Sportsmen's Lodge is a reasonably comfortable hotel whose primary asset is being well-situated for any events or attractions in the San Fernando Valley or over the hill in nearby Beverly Hills and West Hollywood. The room is reasonably comfortable and clean but without anything that suggests an upgrade. The primary I've had with this hotel the last two times I've stayed there is noise from fellow guests. For some reason, people at this hotel feel like they can have parties in their rooms until midnight. This occurred most recently two out of three night with different guests. It's a phenomenon. I've never experienced at any other hotels in L.A. So it's a trade-off between good location and noisy neighbors. Earplugs help.

Pretty good for an older hotel

Posted Mar 9, 2017
Pros: Beds - very comfy
Cons: Update carpet, paint and amenities
Location: Close to Universal
It's not the state of the art hotel, but for N. Hollywood area, it's on the upper end. It's an older hotel, but the bed was comfortable, room was clean. Carpet in the hallway is uber dated as is the paint, but the pool is fine. Hot tub was closed for renovation. Hotel staff was nice enough. Nothing in the bathroom would reach out and grab you. Only 15 minutes away from Universal even with morning commute traffic (if you stay on the Blvd).

You can tell it is old facility, the room is just ok, only the front lobby is renovated. Hotel provides free shuttle to Universal Studios, which is a plus.
