I finally made it to this place! I have seen photos of this spot for years, and thankfully had to go to LA last week - and snuck out for a bit to shoot it! It's a beautiful sight to behold in the soft light of blue hour. While I am not one for mucking about on touristy piers, I am a big fan of getting down by the water and catching some swirly lights reflected in the ocean - good times! When one thinks of Santa Monica, the attraction of the Pier inevitably comes to mind. There are times though when the view under the pier becomes more interesting than what's happening above. I was looking for a pathway shortcut at the Santa Monica Pier when I chanced upon this golden opportunity. #StunningStructures We got a little place off AirBNB a block away from the waterfront in Venice Beach. Their claim to fame was Jim Morrison had a friend who lived in the building and he used to sleep over there and write songs on the roof.
I really enjoyed Vencie Beach, it had loads of activity and lots of characters along the board walk. The beach was simply amazing and was cool to watch highly experienced surfers doing their thing.

The trail is 4.6 miles with 1135 ft elevation gain and is well kept. In spring or early summer the waterfall is flowing but can be quite dry in the fall. The summit of Skull Rock offers a great view of the Pacific Ocean and the surrounding areas along the Pacific Coast Highway. This beach is three miles long, has a picnic area, shops and pier. Visitor activities include volleyball, basketball and a running strip along the beach, and inspiring views of the Santa Monica Mountains year-round. I call this, The park got busy during the Labor Day weekend. The beach was full as well. Santa Monica beach on the north side of the pier is separated from the city by the palisades (an ocean bluff) and the Pacific Coast Highway. A series of bridges, walkways and stairs provides access to the beach from the city.Tell us what made this place so special.
Amazing what the summer heat can bring to lots of people! Colorful houses at Venice Beach's boardwalk. Hues over Venice Beach, minutes from the hustle, miles from the noise. #BeachBound One of the most impressive sunsets was at the Venice beach. If it could be slower like hours.
I’ve rent a bike from Santa Monica and gave a break here. Just to watch waves and sunset with peace.

While finding an anchor at the bottom of the ocean is nothing new for the rescue boat captain, this anchor is believed to be at least 100 years old, a relic from the days when the area was a major shipping port.
Greger, a 20-year veteran of the Los Angeles County Fire Department, was about two miles up the coast from the Santa Monica Pier when he made the discovery. The anchor now rests in a garden at the county lifeguard station on Ocean Front Walk. Chicken, waffles, and bacon oh my! Just south of the pier is a stretch of beach that acts as an outdoor jungle gym. It’s actually the original location of Muscle Beach, which was later moved to Muscle Beach Venice.
This is where fitness junkies, acrobats and gymnasts come to bend, twist and swing on a variety of public workout equipment, including parallel bars, ropes and rings. If you’re looking for a place to people watch, this is it.

#Bestof5 Getty Gardens Great little Stunning wall potrait on Abbot Kinney street, LA. Hard to believe that the expressions, flying hair are all etched on the wall. You got to see it to believe it! I found the beach to be average and the boardwalk to be dirty, scary and smelled strongly of marijuana...but the sunset was sure pretty :) Venice, a neighborhood of Los Angeles just south of Santa Monica, was developed by tobacco tycoon Abbot Kinney as the Great destination for tourists and locals alike.
