5 star hotel

Posted Aug 19, 2016
This hotel was excellent. We came from another nearby hotel which we had a terrible experience and the Garland was very accommodating. We booked 20 minutes before we checked in and they gave us an early check in, before noon and we were able to extend our stay an extra day. Hotel is very convenient with the trolley to Universal, the on site restaurant and the nightly movie at the pool for the kids. Very clean and classy hotel. The staff is also very professional and helpful as well. This is our new go to hotel at Universal Studios.

Nice hotel. Close to Universal and Burbank.

Posted Aug 17, 2016
Pros: Location, size of room, size of bathroom
Cons: Light from bathroom seems to light up whole room, which is annoying if everyone else is sleeping.
Location: by Brady Bunch house, Universal, Warner Bros. Studio. Relatively close to the 101 and Hollywood.
Nice sized rooms. Good location, near Universal and Burbank. Pool area was nice and there was a movie every night.

Boutique Hotel Experience Right in LA Chaos

Posted Aug 17, 2016
Pros: Comfortable rooms, close to Universal Studios.
Cons: Friday evening was busy in the restaurant so we entered the attached lounge and did not get served. We left and got fast food. Very unsatifying!
Location: Super close to Universal Studios.
Lovely hotel vibe. Really SoCal from the upgrades, to the twinkling lights on the trees, tv at the pool and hip menu in the restaurant.

Close to Universal

Posted Aug 16, 2016
Pros: How close it is to Universal Studios.
Cons: The beds were pretty springy, it would be nice if there was a foam topper.
Location: Universal Studios is only a few miles away and there's a boba place nearby too! If you're into that.
We were only here for a night. We were given a room on the first floor and it's sort of below ground level so it was a little dark, but it was fine for the one day we were there. The bed wasn't as comfy as I would have wished and the shower head didn't have very good pressure. However, the location is very close to Universal Studios, only a few miles and they also have a free shuttle which is nice! I'd probably stay here again if we were going to Universal.

Excellent family hotel and great value for L.A.

Posted Aug 15, 2016
Pros: Quiet location Modern decor in lobby and rooms Great customer service Lots of family-oriented perks Great onsite restaurant and poolside bar
Location: Close to Universal Studios and Warner Bros. Studios and easy access to any Hollywood area sights--Walk of Fame, Hollywood Blvd., Griffith Park.
My family had a great stay at The Garland. The hotel is in a pretty quiet area in N. Hollywood so it felt like a relaxing retreat to get here after a day of busy sightseeing and traffic in L.A. I expected that a hotel within this price point and located within L.A. would be clean but basic. I was pleasantly surprised that the place looked exactly like the photographs on the Expedia website. The lobby was chic and spacious and the pool area was large with comfortable chairs and a poolside bar with a fantastic food and drink selection. We were asked if we'd like an upgrade from a room with two queens to a suite if we were willing to wait. It did take a little longer than expected to get into our upgraded room but we happily hung out at the pool for an hour. The suite was great--super spacious and modern with a separate alcove with bunk beds for my kids. The amenities for families were excellent. At about 5 p.m., someone from the hotel came around the pool area and passed out free popsicles, which my kids loved. The hotel also showed a family movie outside at the pool area in the evening and offered a free hourly shuttle to Universal Studios. (We did not take advantage of the shuttle but seems really convenient if Universal Studios is part of your travel plans.) Finally, there is a restaurant onsite that offers a really great mix of food that both grown-ups and kids enjoy. We had to book the restaurant separately from our hotel stay but were able to bill our meal to our room

Right around the corner from universal studios

The garland was a very nice hotel. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The facilities are well maintained and we enjoyed the pool and spa. The only negative would be the ac units in the rooms, quite noisy at night. Overall my wife and I had a great stay and would definitely visit again!

Updated older facility. Paper thin walls.

Posted Aug 12, 2016
The room and beds were clean and comfortable. Patio doors didn't completely seal and person smoking on patio next door easily wafted into the room. . We could hear every conversation of anyone outside, in the hall, or in the next room. The family movie at the pool each evening was nice. Good location for studio tours or Universal Studios.

Disappointed with this hotel

Posted Aug 12, 2016
Room small / no water pressure in the shower/ Self parking gate is a problem, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't / business center they charge to use their computer / print charges are very expensive / valet workers are rude/ The location was good for our business meetings / $389 per night is very expensive for this hotel

Nice and clean hotel.

Front desk gave us the wrong key, can't get in to the parking area or front door. Had to wait in the dark for more than 15 minutes until someone showed up to gave us the replacement key. Wifi connection was poor unless you stay close to the lobby area.
