The facilities themselves are really nice. Rooms are clean and modern, common grounds are well kept, plenty of parking, nice atmosphere in the front lounge and the pool, friendly staff, etc. But my #1 complain about this hotel, and the reason why I gave it only 3 stars, is that ALL family rooms are facing HWY101, which means you hear every Harley that goes by all night long!! Needless to say, you are not well rested in the morning. The prices here are not cheap, so if I am already paying north of $400 a night I expect to at least get decent rest. I complained about it when we got to our room and the staff and management moved us to family suite, which still had the same problem but at least it was bigger room. My advice would be to request quite room and hope for the best. The best thing about the hotel is free shuttle to Universal Studios which spares you from parking crowds and trying to find your car after long day in the park. You can leave your car at the hotel grounds as long as you move it by midnight on your last day.

The Garland - resort like

Posted Jul 15, 2016
Very comfortable & clean. Property had a real resort feel with separate buildings and several common areas. Great location and friendly staff. Restaurant was excellent. Spacious rooms. Only complaint...water on the floor after showering because of no lip on the floor (cool design but functional?).

Best location for LA vacation. Safe.

Posted Jul 13, 2016
Pros: Location. Wonderful pool area. Relaxing areas. The staff that greeted us when we arrived outside. Very nice.
Cons: Air conditioner needs to be serviced. Parking shouldn't be charged.
Location: grocery, Walgreens, best commute to Hollywood and Mullholland, In and Out, studio tours. Hollywood bowl.
Location!! Clean rooms, the valet service, even though I used self park, were the nicest and most welcoming. Grounds and room were clean and nice. Air conditioning was leaking and a little noisy. I rented room for high price and then a few days before I ended up saving $50 per night through Expedia. I loved the trolley shuttle, the pool area is super. I felt welcomed and safe. Only thing I would change is the fee for parking. Why? The rate is high enough and the parking should be included.

Too many errors

Posted Jul 12, 2016
Pros: Overall grounds were well kept
Cons: Communication, housekeeping and staff
Check in was problematic as the reservation from Expedia was lost and took time and was confusing. We were finally given room next to housekeeping room, directly across from elevator and next to freeway. Noisy. But oddly and worse was we had no housekeeping -ever- I called several times to get new coffee cups , empty garbage ( we stayed 3 nights) and they only came twice after call to deliver iron and once to give us cups etc., never made beds, vacuumed, empty garbage etc. While we were ok and didn't need sheets, towels changed out- no housekeeping at all was our experience - this is worrisome for such a pricey place and room location. WE will never return nor will we ever recommend.

Great family hotel for going to Universal

Posted Jul 11, 2016
Pros: atmosphere, dive in movies for the kids
Cons: get a dedicated service elevator. the service people kept taking over and overriding us on the elevator.
Location: Universal and everything hollywood is nearby
The kids loved this hotel, especially the dive in movie every night, and it was chic enough to satisfy me and my husband.

Exception accommodations well located!

Posted Jul 10, 2016
Pros: Rooms are completely refurbished. A great treat to have lighted closet, bath fixtures, modern, that all work, and enough hangars in the closet!
Cons: They really need facial recognition software, or some way of letting desk staff know they are serving repeat guests. More welcoming.
Location: Great restaurants in walking distance: British, Indian, Mexican, Mediterranean, Sushi, modern yuppie and midwestern breakfast nearby. All great!
Third week (and more!) stay in four years. Property is always in pristine condition and staff are well trained. First stay after recent room upgrades and it is clear they had expert design help. Rooms (in the El Dorado) just sharp, attractive and very pleasant. Note: rooms "overlooking the pool" also overlook the expressway. In summer, with the a/c running, not an issue except when patio door is open. Valet staff, housekeeping, pool bar and bar staff just a treat to work with. Real downside was the remodeling/repurposing of what was the lobby sundry shop. Its location is now the pool bar which is in itself pretty nice as a venue. Limited seating inside off the lobby, and also serves people in the pool area. Makes drinks on the spot, has a good menu with items brought over from the main restaurant in good time. Try the fruit bowl for a real treat! But back to the point: the sundries have been cut way back and moved to "The Store" which is the only part of the stay that was really disappointing. A bottle of soda, a candy bar and a tube of sunblock cost $30. Just outrageous. There are off-campus sources for sundries: two drug stores, a 7-ll and a Ralphs full-service grocery within walking distance. Still, this is a marvelous place to stay and I really recommend it if you have business in the Studio City zone.

Enjoyable

Posted Jul 10, 2016
I enjoyed my stay. Centrally located to most tourists areas. Room and grounds were nice. I suggest if you stay, don't park on their grounds. You can save a Lot by parking on the street. Just pay attention to the signs. They give free wifi but it didn't always work great in the room. Other than that, great hotel.
