Overall a nice hotel

The grounds are very nice. Great location. The only complaint I have is the $100 per night hold on your card for incidentals.

Great location for LA

Posted May 18, 2017
Pros: They have different extra activities depending on the day of the week, from movie night at the pool to craft beer tastings or fitness trainers.
Cons: Maybe adding a coffee lounge.
Location: It is adjacent to the 101 freeway and a residential area but very close to both Universal Studios & City Walk and Hollywood. Nuff said.
This hotel is right off the freeway in an excellent neighborhood. It has a retro feel with all the amenities you would want for both family or business stay. Has it's own shuttle to Universal Studios so you can park at the hotel (for a fee) but not have to deal with parking fee if you visit Universal. The restaurant onsite is open early (6AM) and late too. Bar available adjacent to the pool. Only quibble is because it is adjacent to the freeway, you might want a room not facing that direction. Of course, it traffic noise is not an issue with you, this would not be a problem. Felt both safe and comfortable during our stay and the staff from valet, desk, servers were all welcoming and helpful. Will definitely be back!

The Garland staff were fabulous - so friendly and accommodating, and happy to give advice about the area or whatever we needed. The room was tidy, with modern bathroom, and although the road side can be noisy if the balcony door is open, it was completely blocked out when the door was closed. Lots of great amenities, and well situated for Universal and Warner Brothers studios (free shuttle takes you right to Universal gates, and to metro stop to access other parts of Hollywood).

Close to Universal Studios

Posted May 17, 2017
Pros: Location to Universal Studios
Location: We had a short stay, only went to Universal Studios for 2 days.
Excellent location if you are going to Universal Studios. They have a shuttle that drops you off/picks you up at the front gate. Hotel restaurant has great food and service, clean rooms and comfortable beds. I brought my own pillow, which was good because I found their pillows a bit to firm for me. All in all, we would stay there again.

Very nice hotel

Posted May 17, 2017
This hotel was a great stay. I didn't do the room service but it was provided for you if need be. Mostly all of the attraction or restaurants I visited , the hotel was only 20mins if that. I loved my stay and would definitely come again. No problems with the hotel room and the staff service was very good to me. No complaints.

Beware of room 111, the worst room in the hotel

Posted May 17, 2017
Pros: The lobby staff was great. The receptionist was terrible.
Cons: Receptionist.
I highly recommend that Expedia remove this hotel from their VIP list. Despite being a Gold member, we were not only not offered an upgrade or other perk, we were given the worst room in the hotel - room 111, right beside the elevator, in a high traffic area. The hotel was practically empty but a very unhappy receptionist decided to make us unhappy too. The food and lobby bar staff were good, although having a restaurant off-site was a hassle.
