Downtown LA🏙 Downtown Los Angeles is the central business district of Los Angeles, California, as well as a diverse residential neighborhood of some 58,000 people. A 2013 study found that the district is home to over 500,000 jobs.[2]
A heritage of the city's founding in 1781, Downtown Los Angeles today is composed of different areas ranging from a fashion district to a skid row, and it is the hub of the city's Metro rapid transit system. Banks, department stores and movie palaces at one time drew residents and visitors into the area, but the district declined economically and suffered a downturn for decades until its recent renaissance starting in the early 2000s: Old buildings are being modified for new uses, and skyscrapers have been built. Downtown Los Angeles is known for its government buildings, parks, theaters and other public places. The layers on sunrise...

This unorthodox facade, which the architects refer to as the The Bradbury Building, built in 1893 in downtown Los Angeles, is my favorite building in California--at least my favorite interior. It's been a location for a number of movies, such as Blade Runner, Double Indemnity, and (500) Days of Summer. Adorable find in a hole in the wall donut shop! The sleek building was constructed by the Diller Scofidio + Renfro architecture firm, and sits just across the street from Frank Gehry's undulating Walt Disney Concert Hall.
Admission is free, so it's no surprise that this cool new joint can get pretty busy. Tickets may be all sold out months in advance online. There are some distributed daily in person at the museum, but you have to get there before lunchtime to be one of the lucky ones. (I sadly wasn't!).

www.visa-vis.com The Walt Disney Concert Hall is pretty spectacular for the outside, but do go inside and check out the sweeping interior as well. Frank Gehry's work is even more spectacular on the inside.

The historic Central Library Goodhue building was constructed in 1926 and is a Downtown Los Angeles landmark.[7] The Richard Riordan Central Library complex is the third largest public library in the United States in terms of book and periodical holdings. Originally named the Central Library, the building was first renamed in honor of the longtime president of the Board of Library Commissioners and President of the University of Southern California, Rufus B. von KleinSmid. The new wing of Central Library, completed in 1993, was named in honor of former mayor Tom Bradley.[8] The complex (i.e., the original Goodhue building and the Bradley wing) was subsequently renamed in 2001 for former Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan, as the Richard Riordan Central Library.
