Pros: smaller hotel, everything was easy access
Cons: everything was great
Location: resort is located within walking distance of local shopping & restaurants
we would recommend this resort for sure, very clean, nice view, & staff was very friendly & helpful

FOR BEING A RETURN GUEST IT WAS HORRIBLE

Pros: The housekeeper, Isabell was amazing! We had her last time and requested that she cleaned our room as well! She was the only breath of fresh air there
Cons: STAFF, ROOMS, CUSTOMER SERVICE, MANAGERS NEED TO KNOW HOW TO BE A MANAGER AND MAKE THE GUEST FEEL SPECIAL. INGRID SHOULD BE FIRED AND SO SHOULD MIMI.
Location: Cabo San Lucas was a great place to visit if you don't mind paying $40 each way.
Our second time there was horrible. Problem after problem and no one was helpful. Our first night there, we used the Jacuzzi tub and when we drained it, all of the water came up from the floor and completely flooded our whole room. The maintenance staff came and were there until after 2 in the morning cleaning with a wet mop. The front desk had called and said they would be there the first hour in the morning to fix the problem. That did not happen. We called and called and finally got someone back to fix it. Which they were there for over 4 hours and never ended up fixing the problem. We left the room and when we returned we had to call to see if it was fixed yet so we could use the tub. IT WAS NOT. They said they would send someone to fix it and that was not the right answer. We were sick of having people constantly in our room during our vacation. Finally after several emails of frustration, the customer service Manager, had called and said she would move our room and get us reservations at the sushi restaurant. When we moved rooms, it was a ground floor room right under the one we had. No view no nothing. Not what we paid for. when we went to the Sushi restaurant, they had no clue who we were and we were interogated for a good 20 minutes on why we were there with no reservation. That was embarassing and frusterating. When we returned to our room, they had rented the above room and they used the tub as well and flooded our new room. Great! Two rooms that flooded!

Fun Mini Vacation

Originally selected a 1 King bed room but when we got to the room it had 2 Queen beds. It was small with a balcony overlooking a walkway and a building. I was not told my selected option wasn't available and that they were putting me in a room with 2 beds instead of 1; something that should be told to a guest while checking-in. I was there to have fun and my trip was only 3 nights so I did not complain about it, I immediately changed into my bathing suit to go enjoy the pool. We were about to walk out when one of the employees knocked at our door and gave us a small cute bottle of tequila and chocolate-covered strawberries. I imagine it was for not giving us our originally selection, or maybe it's a gift for all the guests, but it was a nice gesture. The lobby bar was spacious and never crowded, always more than 1 bartender when needed and they were fast in making the drinks. The pools were also big enough where it did not feel too crowded ever. The only negative aspect is that people put their towels on the chairs with a clip, and leave and there rarely were any available around noon. The snack bar was always stocked and the food was good. The food in the buffets was average. Nightlife is fun but not crazy. They have a fire pit, daily events, and fun entertainment. Waiting staff was nice. Also, walking distance to outside restaurants. The one thing that I really, really disliked were the very thin walls. You can seriously hear EVERYTHING. But overall, nice getaway.

Nice hotel grounds but lacks in ceartain areas

Like to say first off the hotel grounds are nicely kept. I went in a group of 7 to celebrate a bday. Be careful if ur on the beach for we had a iPhone and cash stolen out of my bag. I get it You don't leave things unattended but it happened while on the beach and us getting drinks from the nearby bar. ( beach service is hit or miss) It also happened to another couple next to us where they lost their iPhone sandals, clothing. So apparently it was a quick hit and run in our area (employees "watching" the beach too.) Areas it lacked were the front desk. Arrangements were made for a bday cake at dinner and room decorations and never happened. Gave them another chance the next day never did it. Breakfast is good and so it the sushi. Disorganized in the Las Jimcas restaraunt. Food orders wrong (only 4 tables of people that night it wasn't busy). Very disappointing because you have to book that in advance. The staff was nice but lacked direction there. The overall excperience was disappointing at this resort. Going all inclusive you should be aware that room service is included but it's $6 usd PER PLATE. We ordered this to arriving late in the hotel. Night life dies down early so not sure why the other reviews said it's some crazy party place, it wasn't. Been to Mexico 3x in the last year and this was not close to a great excperience. Despite the theft, wrong beds in room, and the non existent bday preperations I'd say book special occasions elsewhere

Rooms old and dated. Hotel tried to overcharge us.

Not a great experience. Rooms were not ready until 5PM. Mold on ceiling in bathroom. Rooms dated. On check in they tried to over charge us, manager said he would take care of it. However on check out manager never took care of it as promised, so we will be disputing the bill. Staff at pool and food services were friendly, but the food was not very good.

Nice hotel, friendly staff

Pools are nice but too much "chair marking" for poolside spots. Then chairs go unused for long periods. Some of the food was not hot enough, but still good. Being first at the buffets helps.

Good for the price

Overall it was good. Some staff very good others OK. Restaurant waiters and waitresses were very good. Sometime it took a long time to get waited on though. Resort was nice.

What a great getaway

It depends what you are looking for but Barcelo offers a lot of activities and social events. They present a show on Mexican culture including dance and singing which is excellent. Staff is nice and friendly and rooms are clean. Animation is fun and lively. Contrary to what we were told by previous guests all swimming pools offer warm water (renovations maybe?). Even if the ocean is not officially swimmable you can still carefully play in the waves at no risk. The ocean was also warm even though it felt cool for the first second. If you are looking for relaxation and seclusion forget about it. This is a fun resort and music is played continuously. Shows end at 10 pm. But the mood is agreeable. Food is excellent and the buffet is offering a great variety of meals. Downtown San José is pleasant and full of boutiques. The architecture is emitting typical Mexican towns but still the atmosphere remains somehow agreeable and friendly. A 20mn safe walk from the resort. Have fun bargaining with local vendors on the beach or in independant stores as they are quite friendly and possess a great sense of humour. Very good trip!
