Beautiful Location, mediocre service

Check-in was great; they upgraded our room for our anniversary (room was huge). Gorgeous views, lovely pools, although they should at least have 1 pool with some type of background music playing. I am almost 40 and not into loud or obnoxious partying, but complete silence in every location was a little boring. We ended up going to other resorts to swim. There were nice guests but also unfriendly ones who looked at us weird when we said 'hello' in passing... We were hanging out at an empty pool and sat on a cabana and asked the waitress if it was okay. She said it was okay as long as we spent x amount of money (which is fine, and we did), however, a little later a man came by to kind of 'scold' us, stating that advance reservations were required for the cabana. He was polite about it, but the pool was empty and the cabana was empty and we asked permission and had met the monetary requirement per the first staff member. We were travelling with a gay couple and I almost wonder if some of the 'shade' we received had to do more with them. Service and food at the restaurants were horrible. I was so glad we didnt do the all inclusive. The timeshare sharks were all over the place. They didn't push us (we were approached 2x), but even seeing them walk other people around with their sales pitch kind of killed the vacation vibe. Overall, the place was lovely, but if I go back I will probably stay somewhere with a happier/more chill/vacation-y attitude..
