Great hotel if attending a Louisville YUM center

Posted Jan 16, 2017
Pros: Walking to Louisville YUM center
Location: Loved walking down the street to the covered area with great restaurants and shops.
Great hotel if attending a Louisville YUM center game. We checked in before the 12 Noon game and could walk under cover to the game as it was raining. A great experience.

Great Mother-Daughter Trip

Posted Jan 5, 2017
Pros: The facility was nice. The staff was wonderful. The food was great. The coffee at Thelma's was cold but the concierge desk made up for it.
Cons: Keep the coffee warm. Free wifi.
Location: We enjoyed the museums, shops and Guy Fieri's. We also hit the outlet mall and Claudia Sander's. Bitterly cold wind but very warm people.
This trip was a Christmas surprise for my daughter. We met her high school best-friend and toured Louisville. We loved our stay at the Galt House as well as our trip to Louisville.

OK motel close to the KFC Yum Center

Posted Dec 28, 2016
Pros: Close proximity to the KFC Yum Center
Cons: Room needs updating for the amount of money they ask per night.
I chose the Galt House due to its proximity to the KFC Yum Center. You can walk to the Yum Center without having to go outside. We stayed in the older part of the hotel, which is just that....older. The light fixtures were dated. The shower was dated. The coffee maker did not work. The heating and cooling system was loud. If you want a hotel close proximity to Yum Center, this is the one for you. I would not stay here if that was not a consideration.

Well Located landmark hotel - needs improvement.

Posted Dec 21, 2016
There was absolutely nothing special about the hotel for the traveler. It may be good for events. The rooms are dated. The AC is noisy. Guest and event elevators are the same - so be prepared to wait 30 minutes in total frustration for an elevator to take you to the higher floors!. Personally, there is nothing to justify the Galt being one of the expensive hotels in the area. On the positive side, most of the staff were friendly and helpful. So I guess it is more of the aging factor and need for better maintenance and a separation of events and residents that may make an improvement. Will not be staying there again.

Beautiful Hotel downtown Louisville

Posted Dec 21, 2016
Pros: Three restaurants, an all-night deli, beautifully decorated and very clean
Location: Downtown Louisville. So much to do within the large hotel or walking distance of downtown.
We went during the Christmas Holidays. The hotel was beautifully decorated and had fun Holiday events. We loved it.

In town for a wedding

Posted Dec 20, 2016
I felt nickeled and dimed. $15 to park- even as a guest, $5.95 for wi-fi, $16 per person for an average breakfast buffet. For a hotel to boast it's the official hotel for the Jentucky Derby, I had higher expectations. The ceiling in our suite was coming down, the carpet was gross, the furniture old and worn. If you had a hotel room- they at least looked newer and cleaner.

Thank you so much for the candid feedback. Some of our best guests are the ones that tell us how we can improve. We are currently updating our hotel which is a lengthy process because of the size of our property. We do hope you come back and find the hotel improved.

Horrible experience with unhelpful security

Posted Dec 19, 2016
Had a very loud and obnoxious party going on in the room across the hallway, spilling out into the hallway. The entire hallway, our room included, reeked of marijuana smoke. There was yelling, and doors slamming all nightong. We called the front desk four times, as did others in the hallway. Three time security came up along with Louisville PD, told them to stop smoking pot and be quiet, each time they told them "if we have to come up again, you will have to leave". Never made them leave. This went on from 10pm-2am. Somebody pulled the fire alarm at 3am. We had 6 month old baby and a 2 year old in our room that were up crying all night. We have stayed at the Galt House three times prior and have never an issue until this last stay. When we made another complaint with the front the desk at checkout, they offered to refund my $15 parking fee? How insulting. They then offered $50 off my $250 stay. After getting a phone call from the manager, they comped my stay, minus all the extra fees and taxes that I still had to pay. Oh well. Our weekend ended up being ruined since we were unable to carry through with our plans for the day, due to two cranky babies that were up all night. We ended up just going home. We always enjoy Christmas at The Galt House, but after this last experience, we will not be back. I understand that they do not control what patrons do, but they should have handled the situation.
