Smokehouse Rules

Pros: Value
Cons: Enforce smoking policy. Charge large fee for guest that smoke in the room.
Location: Marks Feed Store has good barbecue. Lemongrass has great Thai food. There is a Farmer's market in Jtown on Saturday mornings, by the police station.
We have stayed here many times because we have relatives nearby. The rooms have always been a good value, especially for extended stays. The good: full size fridge, comfortable bed, good breakfast, clean room. The bad: thin walls (we heard our neighbor all night), and the smoking. Our neighbors smoked and the odor permeated our room through the common bath vent. It also seemed like other patrons were smoking too, as evidenced by cigarette butts in the hallways. This is supposed to be a no smoking facility, and the front desk said they were having trouble with people complying. Not only was our visit miserable, but we would not be able to rent a room where someone smoked because it is nearly impossible to remove the smell from the room. It is a shame such a nice hotel is going downhill.

We are so sorry this happened to you. You are correct, our property is a 100% non-smoking property, with designated smoking areas located outdoors. If we suspect smoking in the hotel, we will call the rooms near where the smell is observed and remind the guests of the no-smoking policy. Additionally, guests that smoke in their suite during their stay are charged a smoking fee, which helps pay to have the room professionally cleaned and neutralized. We apologize for your negative experience, as we are working deligently to enforce the no-smoking policy to ensure all of our guests have an enjoyable stay.

Great full kitchen facilities.

Pros: Full kitchen, spacious, excellent hotel staff, great breakfast, night auditor is outstanding!
Cons: Mores shelves in the bathroom. Wall thermostat would not hold temperature, decor a bit dated.
Location: Location fine.
Overall stay was fine, I didn't realize there was no housekeeping on weekends and therefore had to obtain fresh towels, soap and dump my own garbage. I will probably look for a hotel with a more frequent room cleaning service in the future.

Most extended stay hotels only offer weekly housekeeping, but at Hawthorn Suites goes above and beyond and provide a Lite Touch Mon-Fri housekeeping and a Full Clean every 5 days you are here. The Lite Touch on the weekend is by request only. The next time you stay with us, just call the Front Desk on the weekend and we'll be happy to schedule weekend housekeeping for you! Seemed like a nice area but when you pull in an park you see signs saying do not leave any valuables in your car they are not responsible. When you walk to the main front door there is a card reader and note saying door is lock dusk to dawn which is not normal for a front entrance. When I checked in and look at the door from the inside, there is a sign saying do not open the door for someone you do not know. Now that was defiantly not normal and a good felling. Check seemed fine, went to my room and went to dead bolt the door but it would not locked, Tried pushing it in tighter and pulling it out thinking it was just not aligned properly but would not lock. Room was not remodeled as describe by expedia. Second room they put me in smelled like smoke terribly. Defiantly would not recommend, this is the second time I used exedia to book a room and had and issue. I will not use them again since you have no recourse for issues at a hotel. Lastly at check out the front desk smelled also like smoke terribly like the lady had just come back in from smoking. I would not recommend at all, very suppressed by the reviews I had seen about this hotel

We're disheartened you did not have a more positive experience and are sorry you did not feel safe in the area. The eastend of Louisville is a very safe, upscale area of town, with plenty of fine dining and shopping on our exit. The parking lot signs reminind guests to lock their cars and remove valuables is standard liability signage (you can find similar signs in parking garages, shopping mall parking lots, etc.) Rest assured that the safety and security of our guests is our number#1 priority and we shut our front door at dark. Guests can gain access using their key card or using the house phone by the door for the Front Desk agent to ring them in. We apologize that the deadbolt did not seem to be working on the first room you checked into and have alerted our Maintenance Engineer to have this corrected. We are sorry for any odors you may have encountered. Our hotel is 100% smoke free and there should be no odors anywhere in the hotel. All our rooms were completely remodeled roughly two years ago with all new carpeting, new lighting fixtures, newTV's, new phone system, new bathroom fixtures, new kitchen cabinets, new granite counter tops, and new paint, and new decor. We're also continually freshening up the property to keep it sparking. We hope you decide to give us another chance and come see us again.

Loved this hotel!!

This Hotel has by far exceeded my expectations! The staff could not have been more accommodating and upon arrival had free pizza from Papa Johns for the guest. It's located in a quiet area with no traffic but some local restaurants within walking distance. The room was amazing, I even had a dishwasher, big refrigerator, and a microwave. The room was crisp clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. I did not eat breakfast so I can't comment only that it smelled amazing on the way out the lobby! I love that it's quiet and calm in the area but 7 minutes from the Louisville area I'm attending for a conference. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone to stay. I plan on bringing the family back here and when I do we will definitely be staying at Hawthorn again!

Pros: Price
Location: Lots of shopping, restaurants and a nice movie theatre very close.
Very nice staff. Room was clean but dated. Wasn't what I expected from a 3 star. Breakfast area is too congested. Hard to maneuver around each other to get to the food. But overall was absolutely worth what I paid. It was priced right.
