Pleasant Resort with well appointed Villas.

Posted Feb 4, 2016
Pros: Spacious villas. Good food and breakfast experience. Golf, tennis and bike hire are good.
Cons: Decor in villas needs to be updated. More planting around villas to soften them. Perhaps another pool for people wishing to seek some peace
Location: Quite well located. On main road and close to several good wineries and restaurants.
We stayed at the Crowne Plaza mid January. We had very hot weather. We stayed in a 2 bedroom villa on the southern side of the resort. It was well located and short stroll to main building where we had breakfast. Our room was very spacious and well appointed. It is however starting to look dated and lacks some character unlike other resorts in the area. The porches where you can sit are looking tired with stains on concrete and weeds growing around them. The buildings of the villas externally look uninteresting with hardly any planting around them. They look stark. Breakfast each day was very good. Great choice and the hotel really copes well with large crowds. Each morning we were able to get a table without any difficulty. Tables were always set and there was plenty of food which never seemed to run out. The pool area is well appointed with lots of lounges, however it does get very crowed with kids so not so good for couples. The tiles around the pool are slippery when wet and hot in the sun. We dined mostly at the less formal restaurant downstairs. It was well priced and the food was of a good quality and presentation. Upstairs at Salt, it is quite expensive especially when travelling with families. Overall our experience was good but will probably look for somewhere different not on such a large scale next time to avoid the crowds.

Good, with some reservations

Posted Jan 29, 2016
Good family place, but suffers a little through being so big. We stayed three nights in a two bedroom villa - two adults and two kids (8 and 5). Pricey - couldn't afford to do this often - but very pleasant. The reception car layby was overwhelmed with numbers of jostling urban battle wagons [dangerous for small kids - best to leave them in the car] staff were pleasant but harried and delays queuing were long at checking in. Villa amenities were good, though airconditioning couldn't be set to run on fan continuously - so we were cooked and frozen by turn, disrupting sleep a bit. Access cards were buggy (we were locked out in our swimmers once). Room service was good, although the menu was a bit limited. We also tried the restaurant (Redsalt) on one night and the food was particularly good. 5 stars there. Breakfasts were chaotic - food and staff great, but venue too small (you often have to queue for a table) and key gangways are used by staff for table clearing. We bought a rate that 'included breakfast', but were stung by the tricky fine print - it covered the adults only. Fortunately the staff waived charge for our 5yo, but it was still another $45 on the bill for our 8yo. Internet is expensive, but fast and stable. The fee was waived at checkout in return for agreeing to be spammed. More generally, the place is big and made for cars - so getting around on foot with kids while silent electric golf carts charged around at high speed was a worry. Kids loved the poo

Nice hotel good facility and good location

Good location in the middle of hunter valley, short stroll to hunter valley garden and those wine valley and attraction. The hotel with good facility such as tennis court, swimming pool and there's got event like cinema showing movie at night, I believe even the weather is bad stay in hotel still got something to do. The hotel room is clean and tidy and the good services. Nice swimming pool and outdoor spa, good buffet at the morning. Staff are friendly and the price is valuable. A good place to live for a family and recommend to friends

Great hotel. Easy to find and very convinient if you go visit the vineyards. Breakfast service was a little slow and they were running out of food the weekend we stayed there, but other than that the hotel cleanlines was pretty good. Would definatelly stay there again.

Loads of fun for family

If you are into golf and wine/beer, then this place is the best place in the whole Hunter. But there is more! It's a great place for kids as well; a big swimming pool with a spa, daily putting competition, 2 ping pong tables, and kids' movie night.

Family friendly base in Hunter Valley

Posted Dec 26, 2015
Pros: Had lots of facilities and options. Child friendly Friendly atmosphere Well maintained
Cons: A bit more attention to detail by check in staff- we had requested a roll out bed in our booking and had to follow up twice before it arrived
Recently had an overnight stay with our 5 yr old. Stayed in main hotel area. Room was clean, spacious and relatively comfortable. Our stay was in school holidays , and it was a wet weekend. They had organised appropriate Childrens movies three times through the day and evening. Our son still wanted to swim so we used the pool, and spa area. It was great. A shallow paddling area for younger children and a large pool area for everyone else and spa was great. Two dining options to choose from ( plus room service) - which was useful considering that we were up mid week when most restaraunts turn out to be closed. We ate at the downstairs lovedale brewery. Was good food, if a little pricey. My son enjoyed playing on the giant chess and checkers set. Saw a gym and day spa - which if we had time I would have tried. Golf course looked great as well. We enjoyed our stay and would return again.

overnighter

Pros: staff
Cons: make sure that the rooms are properly fumigated (we had ants in our kitchen) and that the tv remotes work ( two of our had run out of power)
Location: vineyards are all around - great location for a wine...er fine time
Great staff and wonderful amenities. The pool is fantastic and the breakfast is plentiful and fresh. Lots of activities around the grounds to keep families occupied if you want a break from the pool. This hotel is a wonderful get-a-way.

Overnight stay

Posted Dec 18, 2015
Pros: Spacious, well set out and friendly staff.
Cons: The pillow was a bit too soft for my liking but the bed was very comfortable and we both had a good sleep.
Location: Great location to enjoy the wineries in the Hunter Valley.
We only had one night there, so we did not have time to use all the facilities. Next time we will stay longer.
