Hotel is clearly aging. Specifically upkeep of gym, beach chairs, bathrooms is a problem ... . The real issue is the restaurant quality - very expensive for very basic food. That's why few people are really having dinner / lunch there. Breakfast is pretty good, though. Front desk staff is excellent.

Overall a pleasant getaway with the kids. The pool was fun. The sea breeze was exceptional. The room service was good.

Excellent hotel close to beach.

Hotel very clean, staff very efficient and friendly. Had the dinner buffet and the breakfasts which was included with your room. Authentic island food, nice variety, good flavor. Will definitely return and recommend to friends.

Pros: Best infrastructure in Tobago and staff were very attentive.
The management were 100% great organizing everything for my engagement. Judy the manager could not have been better. 5 stars!

Mattress too soft. Staff needs to smile more. Everything else perfect, ambiance, food, amenities etc.

Nice resort - needs improvement

Pros: I really appreciated that you never have to leave the resort the everything you need for your stay is on the premises. Breakfast buffet is amazing.
Cons: Staff needs to improved their attitude towards ALL guests. Smile, be friendly and do your best to be HELPFUL its part of the job in customer service.
Location: I had a car so it was easy to get around the island. Numerous bays with activities are near by (Piegon Point, Crown Point, etc.)
Overall Magdalena is a beautiful resort. While staying at the resort I found a few things to be disappointing which i will touch on below. Pros: 1) If you don't care to explore the Island, you don't have to leave the resort. The pools are great, the bars are always open, there is food, shops, a spa, and a cafe on the premises. 2) The resort staff can organize a taxi or shuttle for guests to attend different attractions on the island. 3) Rooms come with a small balcony where you can enjoy the Atlantic Ocean view 4) The woman working in the gift shop is extremely friendly and helpful.** 5) The breakfast buffet is amazing (when booking this resort book a room that comes with complimentary breakfast..YOU WON'T REGRET IT) Cons: 1) Check-in is at 3:00pm but, I was not checked in until a little after 4:00pm (I arrived a little early and asked whether the room would be ready on time, the receptionist explained that the cleaning staff was preparing the room which is understandable. We received a complementary drink and was asked to wait in the lobby. After 3pm I asked the receptionist about the room and the response was rude as if i shouldn't even ask.) 2) Getting extra towels was difficult because they would either not bring them or take very long to bring them. 3) Throughout my stay, very few staff members were helpful which was disappointing - I expected a more friendly staff from such a big resort ESPECIALLY at the front desk. (The bell staff was more friendly)

Not the worse Definitely not the best

Over charged for food 114 us dollars for a buffet which included curry chicken and fish...WI fi was horrible barely worked...definitely feel like I shouldve just stayed in Trinidad at hyatt..

I take it you were referring to the dinner buffet which costs about US$55 per person. One of the things that Magdalena is highly known for is the consistency and quality of our food. With regards to the WiFi, what I can tell you is that we are in the process of upgrading. However, this process is taking much longer than we anticipated. Pros: Staff, location, services, cleanliness, overall experience from the view and how relaxing it was. I'd go there again. And again.

The staff makes this place what it is. They made our stay the most enjoyable. There's always a warm welcoming smile and great customer service. Having said that, I must commend Judy and Farren at the front desk who welcomed us, the bell hop (sorry I forgot his name) who took our luggage to and from our rooms; Susan and Kenesha from the restaurant/pub, and last but not least, Timothy (Philips) from IT who explained what was going on with the Wi-Fi and did his best in accommodating me and my friend, Toya for the few days we stayed there; also, The cab driver who took us to Crown Point to get food when the pub was closed was really friendly. He was telling us about Tobago's culture and he seemed knowledgeable. Last but not least, shout out to the complimentary rum punches! (delicious) The staff in the breakfast lounge was incredibly professional, quick, and always there to help. I don't think I was ever waiting for anything there. Even though I was only there for a short time, I'll be returning. Don't think I'll go anywhere else. For the price and experience A++ would recommend

Nice clean hotel with great view

Pros: The look, space, beauty and the staff.
Cons: the WIFI!!!!! Wifi in my room kept cutting off and I had to either go to the balcony or even leave the room sometimes to get a signal.
Location: Not really things to do. Kind of far from places. Have to take a cab.

Lovely hotel and location but needs some upkeep

Pros: Location and facilities.
Cons: Hotel staff attitude. Hotel is also in need of maintenance and updating.
Location: We enjoyed dinner at the Seahorse Restaurant one night - a 15 minute taxi drive from the hotel.
This hotel was recommended to me by a friend that works in Trinidad. I had previously been to Tobago and had stayed at the Kariwak Village in Crown Point. However, they were fully booked this trip so I had to find an alternative hotel. The location and grounds of the Magdalena Grand are amazing - no other hotel on Tobago can boast of such features. The pools are lovely. Our check in was slow - and when we were given a room at 3 PM, we had to change it because it smelled strongly of mold. Changing our room took another half an hour. Our room was a superior King - clean and adequate, with a good sea view. We had a bed and breakfast option. Breakfast was abundant and delicious. Our first day, we had a buffet lunch at the restaurant downstairs; the price was ridiculously expensive. That evening we had dinner at the poolside Cafe; not only was the food delicious but also much more reasonably priced. The staff of the hotel could use some training as well as an attitude adjustment. Several of the waitresses were quite surly. We did appreciate the free hotel shuttle which took us back and forth to the lovely sandy beach of Pigeon Point. We would definitely return to this hotel, although the hotel is in dire need of maintenance and updating.
