The homepage of the hotel's website says "just a few mile from the center of Luanda." This is very deceiving. It takes more than one hour to get to the center, and there are almost no transport options. Because of the distance, taxis take more than an hour to arrive, sometimes don't arrive at all, and charge over $50 just to come. When I asked the management about the distances they give on the website, they laughed and said that the website is run from Lisbon and those guys don't know the hotel or Luanda. He implied that I was naive for trusting what their own website says. Besides being far from town, area itself is very bad. No shops or restaurants within walking distance. Also, staff is very unhelpful and uninformed (couldn't tell me what time breakfast was served, how to access the gym, etc). After a few days I changed to a similarly-priced hotel in the center (Trivoli) and found the quality, service, and of course proximity exponentially better. The only reason to stay in Aldeamento is if you have business in the industrial area northeast of the city. And even then, be prepared for poor service.
