Nice hotel close to the city center

Only negative is you can't check out 24 hours. Something like 7 am to 9 pm. Not a good senario when you have to catch a flight at 6 am and want to be at the airport by 4:30 am. So I reluctantly left my card info and still haven't recieved a email receipt and that was over 24 hrs. ago.

Dear Mr Dave, thanks a lot for your comment. For accounting reasons we kindly ask to our guest to pay their bill the night before their check out date if they have to leave very early in the morning (it is written on the reception desk in order to inform all guests.) This does not mean that you can not check out 24hours. Our reception is 24H open. Anyway we will check why you have not received your receipt by email. We hope to see you again. Kind regards, Mauro Cusinato. Hotel Manager

Withing walking to all quaint streets and museums, churches, restaurants etc. Bikes available to circle Lucca on the wall surrounding the city( only about 2 km to go around once) and you can enter Lucca on the bikes. Cobble stones a little rough on my prostate, however...HA !

Pros: Location & Style
Cons: None, would spoil its charm
Location: Within the walled area so good for everything with a 20min stroll.
With over 400 cafes, bars and restaurants this is the place to be gastronomically satisfied! The hotel does its part with free presseco for breakfast and early evening.

We were given an up-grade in the annex. Well appointed suite. The hotel is well located within the wall and within walking distances to all the sites.

This is a very nice hotel with an incredibly friendly and helpful staff, especially Claudia. Very nice facility near restaurants and shopping. The breakfast was one of the best we have had in a month of travel in Europe. We would definitely return.

Pros: Good helpful staff and very comfortable and clean room.
Had free upgrade on arrival, to one of the modern recently refurbished apartments in the Tower. This was substantial with mezzanine and small kitchen, very quiet and comfortable, particularly the bed. We were impressed with the free coffee/buffet during the day and particularly the free Proseco between 5-7pm, as were many others, a good way to relax and meet other guests. The hotel is just inside the east gate walls and is close to all of Lucca's restaurants, cafes and shops. We visited some museums and attended two of the Puccini opera evenings, which were immensely enjoyable. Trained it to Viareggio and Pisa (Leaning Tower and close buildings of interest), easy to get to train station and tickets are relatively cheap. Lucca is a wonderful example of a walled medieval city, well worth a visit, watch out for the cyclists in all directions!

Pros: Staff
Cons: Clean the rooms and paint
Location: Wonderful location walkable to everything.
Not a pleasant experience. The hotel room was dirty, the walls had stains on them and I am not talking marks from luggage. The bathroom had miles and was poorly updated. The room was very noisy people moving chairs or furniture around would not stay there again. Very poor breakfast.

This is a convenient, relaxing and comfortable hotel within the walls of Lucca. The hotel staff provided a warm welcome and were attentive through out our stay. Complimentary afternoon & evening refreshments were a lovely gesture and delicious. This is a laid back hotel which echoes the city it sits within. Lucca is bursting with history, culture & music combined with great local wine & cuisine - not forgetting a great shopping experience. We are coming back to stay at Hotel Ilaria for sure!

Pros: service, quality of the rooms, complimentary drinks and snacks and bikes.
Cons: the milk at breakfast is a bit too rich and creamy for us but we just ate the pastries instead!
Location: Cycled around the walls Cooking lesson at cucina-italiano shopping eating
We stayed in Lucca for 3 nights with our 2 teenagers and had a fab time. We were upgraded to the fabulous suites opposite in the medieval tower which were very spacious and had every amenity. The staff could not do enough for us and were very hard working. I loved the " happy hour" with complimentary prosecco and the complimentary drinks and snacks which were available all day this was an added bonus and unexpected. The suites, whilst within the walls were very quiet. We used the complimentary bikes every day and cycled around the walls. The children didn't complain one ( about the hotel!). We also booked a cooking lesson with chef paolo making pasta and pasta sauces at his restaurant 15 mins from Lucca. Well definitely be coming back !

Lucca was very busy at the time of our visit mid July. Hotel Illaria provided a cool, quiet haven at the beginning and end of each day. A wonderful stay.
