Great value off season

Posted May 22, 2017
Pros: Location ,decour and tradition
Cons: Costly if in season and using Michelin starred restaurant at 100 + Euros for dinner per person a bit of a stretch but all other areas excellent
Location: near to bus and trains to access Luccia, Florence , Pisa and Pietra santa
Excellent all round location, good room and facilities, first class breakfast, staff friendly and helpful

Classy hotel in great location

Posted Oct 27, 2016
Pros: Front desk staff always helpful.
Cons: Bit noisy from the street because the windows need to be modernized.
Location: Can't get a better location than this.
Classy place. Room was bit small but well appointed. Great views from the small balcony. Breakfast buffet was more than ample.

Old world charm

Posted Sep 19, 2016
Pros: Very clean and well kept.
Cons: Choice for breakfast
Location: Plenty of lovely architecture, long front promenade with nice shops, restaurants and gelateria. Pisa is a 14minute train trip away too!
We stayed at this hotel for a few days in September. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The rooms very very clean the bathrooms well equipped although the showers are tiny, Breakfast was fair, not too much choice but what there was was nice, the restaurants chef has a Michelin Star if you fancy fine dining in the evening. The area is full of lovely architecture dating back to a different era and the place does have a gentile atmosphere. (Except the beach hawkers, who were very persistent 😡) The beaches in Viareggio are all private and this hotel has an agreement with "Italia" beach and you can purchase a couple of deck chairs and parasol for €11 there is an extra €5 to upgrade to a sunbed and a further €3 for the use of a beach towel. However I believe this is reasonable for this area. After all that you would think the "owners" of said beaches Would keep the sellers of useful items like pegs, umbrellas, tea towels and brooms, as well as the usual sunglasses bags watches etc, away from their paying guests. Or are they only private when it suits??? This was our only annoyance and thoroughly recommend the hotel

Nice location

Posted Aug 11, 2016 on Hotels
This hotel was in a great location - just across the street that runs along the beach shops and restaurants. The beach is big, but unfortunately, full of umbrellas and chairs to rent. There is very little open beach to simply go throw your towel on and spend the day. But there are a lot of restaurants that serve very good food all along the way and shops aplenty. The hotel is rather basic - no carpet in our room, but the bathroom was nice and clean and roomy. The beds were terribly uncomfortable for us. It is a thin mattress that is on a board - no box spring - and very hard pillows. That was my only complaint. Breakfast was nice and is at the top of the hotel, affording a nice view of the beach and outside seating if it's a nice day. The hotel was great overall, but I wouldn't stay there again just because of the bed/pillows.

Viareggio for the Opera

Really liked the hotel. Great service, good breakfast, nice common areas, lovely bathroom. Only criticism: room a little Spartan and heavy smell of stale tobacco.
