Could be charming but trends to utilitarian

Posted Dec 2, 2016
Pros: as above - friendly staff; good beer
Cons: Better internet and TV service; better menu and food presentation
Location: Limited in winter; hotel could do better job of promoting 'what to do' in winter months.
Beautiful setting in historic village. Lund is a lovely place in the winter, not crowded and an invitation to wander about, find trails, enjoy the small arts community. The new part of the hotel is utilitarian; long rows of rooms undifferentiated. In the summer it is a place for a night's rest before embarking to Savary Island or Desolation Sound. But the winter months would invite a cozy atmosphere, fire place, exposure to the history and art of the area; sadly lacking. Staff is friendly. Restaurant was mediocre. Cost for value was high. But clean and comfortable. It is a hotel for summer efficiency rather than a destination place for eccentrics seeking respite from cold, wet BC Coast.

Nice hotel at the end of a long drive

Posted Sep 20, 2016
Pros: Close to the Lund Watertaxi which we travelled on the next day to Savary
Hotel was a welcome sight after a 12 hour travel day. Had a room with a view. Very comfortable and extra clean. Staff pleasant and friendly. Although latish, had a nice meal in the Pub @ 8 pm.

Older more traditional hotel...lovely.

Posted Sep 6, 2016
Pros: Friendly staff that went out of their way to help us or answer any questions we had.
Cons: The water pressure in the shower.
Location: Waterfront location. Great restaurant and pub attached to hotel. Viewed whales breaching while having dinner on deck of pub...amazing.
Just looking for a quiet, peaceful and relaxing weekend? That's what we got and the best part was I could bring my dogs. They loved it too!! We loved the location, right on the water; it doesn't get any better than that.

well restored heritage; close to marina

Posted Aug 11, 2016
Pros: Nicely restored, heritage atmosphere; close to working marina; on site good restaurant; friendly staff
Cons: Cleanliness of carpet/floors/baseboards/outside furniture could have been wiped down Clarity between Expedia vs hotel payment; communication?
Location: Day hiking and kayaking tours; zodiac tours up to three days Water taxi access to nearby Savary Islands and other destinations Visit Powell River
Confusion at front desk re replaced MasterCard being different from one use for booking. Who to pay? Upon arriving in room we looked at the carpet and noticed a hair clump, other hair and lint from a previous guest. We requested that someone vacuum and a front desk staff member came straight away with a vacuum cleaner that did not have a carpet attachment--only one for furniture. She did her best with this and blamed summer help for the standard of cleanliness of the carpet and also the bathroom baseboards which were noticeably in need of cleaning. Coffee maker was mismatched (wrong pot for machine) so leaked. Front desk quickly brought up a new one. Closet door handle falling off; no plug in bathroom sink; new looking, spotless linens; comfy bed; refrigerator, cups and glasses clean. The waitress at the bar was unaware of the kayak launch close to the building and charged someone else's tab to our bill but was happy to correct the mistake. Service was quick and pleasant. The food at the hotel restaurant/pub was excellent. All hotel personnel very friendly and welcoming. More confusion upon check out re the card, deposit and payment. Different employee at desk--no note on file re first experience. Again, very personable front desk personnel.

Tranquil retreat

Posted Sep 26, 2015
Pros: Peaceful, comfortable room.
Cons: No reception staff after 6pm. Breakfast bland. Only three TV channels! Stair carpet filthy (first impressions!)...
Location: For eating out, I recommend Powell River - especially Little Hut Curry!
Our room overlooked the tiny harbour, and the balcony proved to be a very pleasant spot to sit and watch the world move (slowly and quietly) by. The room (King bed) was modestly sized but comfortable. A small but pleasant detail was that we were more than adequately provisioned with hot drink supplies. If you are looking for hotel accommodation north of Powell River, this is the only game in town/village, however our brief stay was ultimately peaceful and comfortable. Make sure you get there before six in the evening, or there will be no reception staff available - this really should be made more obvious during the booking process, since from Vancouver the trip to Lund is a two ferry affair, and travelling time is only partially controllable.

Nice room, close to beach, restaurant on site

Posted Sep 7, 2015
Pros: as above
Cons: Floor in room 107 slopes slightly, which our top mattress on bed slide about 4 inches each night. Maybe find a way to balance the bed better?
Location: as above - good location to all amenities.
We spent 2 nights at The Historic Lund Hotel. We took a water taxi over to Savary Island to bike ride for the first day. On the second day, we went kayaking from Oveoker Arm. Several amenities nearby - food, laundry, transportation, and outdoor pursuits. Hotel was clean and comfortable, but a bit pricey....mind you, there isn't a lot of hotel choices around.

Hotel in a beautiful setting

Posted Jul 23, 2015
The Historic Lund Hotel is located in a beautiful setting on the shore of the ocean with glorious views. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the restaurant/bar was perfect for both views, food and atmosphere. The rooms needed a little more updating and cleanliness as they had a musty smell until we opened the window to air things out - could be just the time of year and humidity in the air that accounted for the musty smell. The brown towels have to go and the air conditioning kept turning on in the rooms that had no occupants, which only bothered me when I walked past the room and thought about the waste of electricity. All in all, I would recommend this hotel for the amazing staff and you can't beat the history and location of this grand hotel.
