"Monica was such a great host! I wish I could give a 6-star rating if there was one. Her whole family waited late and greeted us on a cold rainy night. Our car had some scratches and I asked them what store in Italy we could buy stuff to rub off the scratches before we return the car the next day. "Hotel is outstanding, it’s over 500 years old and it’s immaculate, food was great, very quiet, first time we have ever stayed in a Palace, room was large with a King bed. My only criticism is that it doesn’t have a true shower. Staff were so polite and accommodating ….we loved the place. Shout out to Lucia who checked us in made us feel so welcome. "Staff were super helpful and communicative. The location was amazing and the amenities were very nice (mini fridge + complimentary water, coffee, wine & morning focaccia). Be sure to look at the room names when booking. While all of the rooms are nice, not all have the amazing patios or views."

"Far better than the alledged 5 star hotel we had stayed in at Santa Margherita. Good breakfast with quality products e.g. fresh bread, Wilkins jams and freshly made cappucino not from a nachine plus lots more. Quiet air conditioning and room was cool when we arrived. Complementary water in the room. Rainfall shower. Good location just over 5 minutes walk from train station and about 15 minute walk to the ferry terminal for Cinque Terre. A block away from a very good restaurant."

"Upon arrival the lift wasn't working, so we had to climb up to the 4th floor with all our bags. It was repaired that day. Great location near shops, restaurants and trains/buses. Room was small with no kitchenette; only kettle, very small fridge and coffee pod machine. You have to use bathroom sink for water. Only provided coffee cups and teaspoons, so all meals have to be eaten out, which doesn't really suit us traveling with children. Block out shutters, curtains and comfy bed meant great sleep. Staff were very responsive."

"Staying a the Locanda Valeria was delightful. If you're looking to get away from the crowds common to Cinque Terre, this property is your answer. The staff are friendly and the intimate setting allows you to connect with other guests. A complimentary light breakfast is provided everyday from 8:15-9:30. The rooms are clean and comfortable with AC for those who want it. What you need to know is that the property is somewhat isolated so you'll need a plan for getting to/from Vernazza or the other villages. If you have a car, driving to a pay lot (20 euros for all day) is an option but be prepared for narrow winding roads. If you arrive by train, a small bus picks up from the post office in Vernazza and drops off at nearby San Bernardino. From there it's a short walk to the hotel. A taxi can be arranged for 25 euros each way. Your final option is to hike the trail to or from the property to Vernazza. This is a very steep trail with over 1000' in elevation change in less than a half mile and not for the unfit. If you have your transportation worked out, the Locanda Valeria is an opportunity to stay in an incredibly peaceful and stunning setting away from the crowds with a view that is second to none."

"It was a lovely hotel right in the downtown area and super convenient. Hotel was not full when we stayed there at all, but was still given a room facing away from the water without any offer of an upgrade (as other hotels have typically done). Breakfast buffet was excellent. Was a definitely nice experience."

"The entire experience at this hotel was magnificent!!! I highly recommend it. The room was so comfortable. The outside terrace had beautiful views and the hot tubs were a perfect way to relax before dinner out. It is located 1 very short block in from the ocean. The hosts will make beach reservations for you. The beach and the area are wonderful. And you can get to the Cinque Terra national park and see the 5 cities by train or a 25 minute car ride to the La Spireza Centrale. This is a FABULOUS place to stay!!"
