Perfect location in Shanghai.

Posted Jul 4, 2017
Pros: Everything! I love old buildings where the history is respected and they have certainly done that.
Location: Close to Metro. Close to shops, walks and the CBD.
Loved the hotel and its links to 20th century Shanghai. Friendly and helpful staff. The best experience that I have had in China.

Dear MR/MRS Anita, Thank you for choosing Okura Garden Hotel (shanghai), our hotel is always committed to offer the best accommodation, best cuisine and best service to our guest. Your compliment is the best reward of our hard work. Located in one of the busiest cities is Garden Hotel. Nice and quite, nice gardens to walk in and view, which makes a difference when you need some down time amongst a busy work schedule. Garden Hotel even though it is Japanese has a western feel to it and is nice after a long day.The bar on 33rd floor is great for relaxing drinks in the evening.""With breakfast"" rate an excellent value. We do hope you can choose our hotel again during your next visit to Shanghai. Okura Garden Hotel

Dear guest, Thank you so much for staying many times. We will never let you feel disappointment. We have great history which embodied by the frontage built between 1925 / 27 by a French architect and was the French Tennis Club. Now the tennis courts have gone to be replaced with 7 acres of magnificent gardens in the middle of Shanghai! All the rooms are great, which in winter, warm toilets seats are a blessing. Our housekeeping staff are brilliant and the views superb. The restaurants are varied with a fair amount of Japanese influence, which is to be expected. The western food in the Rose cafe is varied and extensive with the staff extremely courteous and friendly. The Bars from the Sky Bar on the top floor, to the main bar on the 3rd floor resembling a Club bar with a great choice on imported and local wines. The lobby bar is great for a choice of teas and a gossip! We are looking forward to your next arrival. Okura Garden Hotel

Friendly staff and a clean, quite room

Posted Jun 5, 2017
Pros: Very efficient night manager/concierge.
Location: A great Chinese restaurant was nearby
Concierge introduced the shuttle bus from hotel to Pudong Airport, which I never heard before. Giving China's smog, it is a great Green option. Surprised that no other hotels ever mentioned this to me in that last few years during my frequent trips there. My traveling pants got too damp (due to spot cleaning a stain) that need to be dried at 6AM before I fly back to the U.S. The night shift MGR came up with the idea to dry the area with an iron. In no time at all an iron and a board was brought to my room and saved the day.

Good place to stay

Posted May 31, 2017 on Hotels
This hotel is centrally located and has plenty of local restaurants nearby. Hotel lobby lounge prices are unreasonably high and the ambience not so great. Overall, a nice clean hotel with friendly staff even if their English level is not very high.

Fabulous base for exploring Shanghai

Posted May 7, 2017
Cons: The hotel might want to invest in some mattress toppers for Western guests who aren't accustomed to the hard style of Japanese bedding.
Comfortable, elegant accommodations within easy walking/metro distance of Shanghai sites and highlights. This hotel is a calm, clean oasis away from the bustle of Shanghai. Excellent service, fast wifi, and clean, comfortable rooms make this a great hotel for business or leisure travel. Make sure breakfast is included--the Japanese breakfast is a particular delight. Other guests have complained about the hard beds. Yes, they are firm--Japanese style--but I slept well and appreciated the attention to detail in other aspects of the room (amenities, excellent housekeeping, full-service Japanese toilet, bottled water etc.). The beautiful, historic facade and lovely garden make this place truly special. Highly recommended.

Nice and clean facilities. Beautiful garden to enjoy an afternoon walk or reading books. Hotel staffs were so friendly, that whenever we pass by they say hello to us. Assume they are well educated.
