Large Suites in a Great Neighborhood

Posted Mar 29, 2017
Pros: Location and room size
I've stayed at this hotel about 20 times over the last 6 years or so. The rooms are large, even the standard room and they all have a great shower and soaking tub. I continue to stay here because I like the neighborhood, tree lined streets, you're right on Fuxing Park and walking distance to Xintandi. I like to very comfortable in my very Western room but able to walk out onto the street and get great local food and be around local people. And you get the back up of being close to Xintandi, so if you're sick of Chinese food and want a choice of Western food, you can walk a few blocks over and get. Also close to Gadu Lu which has a ton of Western choices and is less expensive and touristy than Xintandi. I enjoy walking the city and it's a great place for that, as it's central and one of the prettiest neighborhoods in the city. You right in the French Concession and can walk to the Bund or Old Town in about 20 or 25 minutes, about the same to People's Square. The downside is that the rooms are getting a bit older now, so not quite as nice as it used to be and the staff is pretty clueless. They can call you a taxi and tell the driver to get you to right terminal at the airport, but don't look to them to make any restaurant, entertainment or activity recommendations. Overall, if you're comfortable in Shanghai and want to get away from the cultural isolation of the 5 star Bund hotels, this is a perfect place.

Fuxing Park close by

Posted Dec 20, 2016 on Hotels
The hotel was initially hard to find because the address is given as Yandang Rd but the entrance is in Nanchang Rd, up a driveway. Signage was inadequate. Hotel staff efficient if a little stiff and awkward. Lighting was so dark in corridors it felt gloomy. Room was amazing - so big, and very comfortable. The lighting was a problem with too many variations on separate lights within the room. Overall a very good hotel.

Hidden Jewel

Nice for a lots of things that are hard to describe, such as they don't have restaurant but the place is so convience and more choice in the neighborhood. Near to a huge public park and you get a very quiet place in a city as Shang Hai. No fancy hotel facility, but with a very roomy fancy, elegant room that most hotel won't offer. That is enough for now and hope they won't raise the price once got more popular.
