Central hotel near the train station

Posted Apr 11, 2017
Pros: Excellent location, good breakfast, clean, wifi worked
Cons: Better safes
Location: It's an easy walk (10-15 minutes) to get to the Notre Dame cathedral area and the central town square with restaurants around it. Old city close too.
We stayed for 4 nights in the centre of Luxembourg, while my partner attended a congress at the Luxexpo convention centre in the Kirchberg area. The hotel is well placed for the train station and a wide variety of bus routes, at least a couple of which went to Luxexpo. Many restaurants are also nearby and the area seemed safe to be walking around in the evenings. The hotel room was of a good size and very clean. Breakfast was good and well supplied. No problems with the bathroom at all - all working fine. Free wifi was provided and worked quite well in our room. Only two real comments to make - 1) a decent sized safe with a programmable code for locking would be better than the small safe provided that required me to collect a key for it from reception and then walk around the city with the key, 2) the heating system was a little slow in heating up the room, although it did get there in the end.

Excellent location for both airport and city

Posted Apr 11, 2017
Pros: Had booked Economy single but got a large double, very comfortable with sofa, safe and kettle. Ample breakfast included. Helpful man at Reception.
Cons: Scrambled egg at breakfast like old leather! Room not serviced every day, nor tea/coffee replenished. Bistro waiter very surly though food good.
Location: Hotel opposite main station with Tourist Office, get better map than hotel provides, 10 mins walk into City. Supermarket behind hotel approx. 3 mins.
Hotel is easy to find because opposite the main station where many buses stop. Airport bus, 16, runs every 10 mins, 2 euros, stops outside hotel. Ten minutes walk to city where there is much to see. Beware confusion of streets on plateaux with those in the valleys! Tourists are not well catered for sign wise! Tourist offices have lots of brochures though and helpful personnel. If you don't speak French or German you can get by because many locals speak English and lots of plaques on buildings include explanations in English. Restaurants seem to be mainly Italian and menus disappointing, or perhaps I looked in the wrong places. Very few souvenir shops, scarcely any ice cream vendors, certainly not in any of the many parks, and very little open on Sundays. Plentiful public transport, but if you are a good walker you don't need it. Two days is about right to visit most places.

Super small bed.. but clean.

Posted Nov 1, 2016 on Hotels
I booked the standard single bedroom and the room was super small, you could hardly walk in. More importantly, the bed was surprisingly small! I have never seen such a small bed in a 4 star hotel. It was more like sleeping on the couch.. The whole room reminded me a student dorm. But it was clean and the staff were very friendly and always ready to serve you. Also, in front of the bus stop, which was convenient.

No great thrills, but reliable room and good and efficient service, the Best Western is perfect for anyone arriving or leaving by train - the station is just over the road. Breakfast buffet was also decent and staff very attentive.

Comfortable, clean, convenient.

Posted Oct 18, 2016
Pros: Rooms were clean and efficient.
Cons: There really wasn't any lobby.
Location: Across the street from hop on hop off bus and train station.
Room was clean and comfortable, although a bit small. Complementary breakfast was good. Restaurant was good for lite bites.

Poor hotel for business

Posted Oct 8, 2016 on Hotels
Not a 4 star hotel by a long chalk.tiny single room with poor bed. Furnished in 1980s with no updating since? Drab old fashioned decor. Don't expect any assistance from reception staff - disinterested. V poor value for money at £106 per night. Stayed in doubletree week before £30 more but far superior. Only positives near transport links and clean. No facilities ie gym. Won't be returning

Very small room. The bed almost at bathroom door

Having to park so far away and at €30 euros to stay at such basic hotel spoilt the experience. Wouldn't recommend the hotel or the area to people with families. Red light district was very obvious
