Don't confuse the Parc Plaza with Park Plaza!Posted Aug 21, 2016 on Hotels
I am a frequent traveller. It's been a long time since I stayed in somewhere so disappointing. Firstly I feel it is pretty misleading to name your shoddy hotel so similarly to an international chain of hotels with good standing that guests may book without researching as fully as they might normally. My husband and I (gay couple) arrived in reception and were quite disappointed when the chap checking us in looked at our reservation card and said 'it says double here, I assume you want a twin?' to which I replied no and smiled. He looked very uncomfortable. Then he went on to try and upsell us breakfast, all the standard stuff. This hotel is tired and feels very down at heel. The furniture in the room was cheap white IKEA furniture that the paint was peeling from in places. The room was very hot and there's no air con. Reception will however lend you a dusty fan that starts clicking every few minutes through the night. It seems to have a special setting to only start clicking again just when you are certain you have fixed it and been back in bed 5 minutes. The room had only one bedside table, had no fridge and felt unloved and smelled a bit musty. Luxembourg is lovely. Definitely won't stay here again.

Expensive and poor at the same timePosted Jul 8, 2016 on Hotels
I've been to this hotel several times with work as it's near a client's Luxembourg offices. This time however was the worst ever. Both Parc Plaza and Parc Belle Vue have always been extremely basic for a lot of money, but the location has limited the choice. This time I arrived on Monday 4th July to find some kind of end of term school disco going on in the adjacent hall. This disco kept me awake till 3 a.m, when the kids coming out and cars picking them up kept me awake till 4 a.m. I got barely 2 hours sleep. The room was so hot I had to keep the window open (in the warm weather it's always too hot in this hotel). The next night was quieter, but again far too hot to sleep properly. When I complained to the reception desk upon checkout the guy just didn't care. He said the party night was just an exception so there was nothing he could do. (My suggestions were maybe forewarn us or make the hotel cheaper than €165/night to stay in, given the disruption.) So my learnings are: stop paying a lot of money for poor hotels with no cooling systems and barely any facilities. I won't stay there again. It's just not worth the money. I'd rather stay at the Hilton (which was cheaper) and get the €2 bus into town.

Stop overPosted Jun 13, 2016 on Hotels
Stop over in the lovely city of Luxembourg the hotel is located only a 2 minute walk to the centre. The hotel restaurant is separate from the hotel which maye be a problem in bad weather.overall the hotel is good with friendly staff. There is parking but not well sign posted.

Style over substancePosted Jun 3, 2016 on Hotels
The hotel room looks good but it really is a case of style over substance; a plastic mattress protector is definitely not what I'd expect from a decent hotel and there was nowhere to store any unpacked items. Hanging space and available hangars could not cope with two people for two nights and there were no drawers whatsoever in the room. We ended up with piles of clothing, underwear and toiletries etc stacked on any unavailable surface - I don't expect to have to live out of my suitcase when I've paid for an expensive hotel room. The bathroom had no shelving, and nowhere to hang towels that would keep them dry when the shower was in use unless you count the floor. Not satisfactory at all. The bar - very disappointing. The first night found a rowdy group of foul mouthed customers who were using offensive language yet the barman did nothing to stop them. It was left to us to ask them to tone it down and we were then subjected to ridicule and abuse from the group, and the barman still ignored it. Shameful behaviour from all concerned. The second evening (after making sure that group weren't present) we ventured in for a nightcap, waited fifteen minutes for the barman to appear, and then had to retrieve him from the kitchen. Twice. We won't be back.
