Very good hotel, with excellent staff

Posted Jun 10, 2017
We had a great stay at this hotel. The staff are lovely and there are extensive facilities though be warned in summer (we came at the end of May) it is very quiet and some of the bars are closed but staff were always happy to bring us drinks and let us order food whenever and wherever we wanted. The coach loads of Chinese arriving every night for one night stopovers was the only downside (buffet dinner was a little like an Asian canteen) but we appreciated the hotel must take business from whichever source it can (and the chef cooked us something separately). Overall a very good hotel which we would recommend....and the pool was amazing!

Overall experience

Posted Feb 8, 2017
Pros: The breakfast buffet is really good.
Cons: Have more shuttle buses to downtown, and a shuttle boat for the customers.
Location: It's a bit far from the city center. The business area down the road is quite authentic.
The staff is nice and accommodating. The cleaners do a good job. The breakfast buffet is quite good. The guy working the sauna/gym is great. One drawback is the location of the hotel. However, there are one pound vans that drive past the hotel, and plenty of taxi drivers vying for business from the five-star hotel customers.

Nile Views

Posted Jan 24, 2017
Pros: Garden and lovely pool but pool not suitable for children unless heated; staff excellent, without exception
Cons: Do not disturb signs. Wifi in rooms - it was available, with good download speed but only in the draughty lobby. More variety in the menu.
Location: Egyptian antiquities, some recently discovered This hotel is in Karnak (very near the temple) but not really within walking distance of downtown Luxor
Comfortable enough, with a super, well-kept garden. January, so not all facilities open, hotel economising on staff because there were few guests, apart from Chinese parties coming and going on tours. Pool was not heated as not cost-effective with so few guests (the touring parties had no inclination to use it and only ate breakfast in the hotel - very early). Room was merely adequate but had lots of high pressure hot water. Noisy in the mornings and there were no 'do not disturb' signs - the housekeeper never did learn that we don't stir before 9 when on holiday and would knock on the door at any time from 7:30 onwards. Minor irritations, made up for by the excellent staff - always willing and helpful

Relaxing hotel with gardens overlooking the Nile

Posted Oct 31, 2016
Enjoyed stay, gardens & pool & outdoor cafeteria attractive, & overlooking Nile. Rooms single level with patio, arranged amongst garden, clean & attractive. Just out of Karnak but taxis cheap, always available & safe (I am older solo female traveller). Staff could not have been more friendly & helpful. Food standards high. Internet only available in lobby was the only weak spot of this hotel.

Excellent place

Beautiful place, staff wonderful, specially mervat and Islam at reception. Heavenly retreat this place. Food for the evening buffet is excellent and first class, very tasty and the staff very friendly and wonderful. Room very clean. Minor issues, the AC gets switched off from mid day until 4 pm, but when complained it was switched on. Morning buffet very limited in choice and staff not as friendly as evening buffet. Internet in room is non existence and at reception very week.

Beautiful hotel right on the banks of the Nile!

Posted Mar 3, 2016
My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights while visiting Luxor. The hotel itself was beautiful and the staff friendly and helpful. We loved relaxing on the lounge chairs out by the river in the afternoon after mornings of temple hopping. Note: some cab drivers had trouble finding it because until recently it was the Sofitel. If you tell anyone to take you to the Sofitel they will know exactly where to go.

I`m likely to stay there again.Room 4 improvement

Posted Jan 24, 2016 on Hotels
The hotel grounds are picturesque. Lovely garden and it`s right on the nile. The hotel is not in the town center so most will need a cab to go to the sites. The room was comfortable and clean though you`d be hard-pressed to find electical outlets.I supposedly had a room with a nile view but you`d have to get up from the bed and go to the balcony to see said nile. The shower kept running really hot and turning off which was quite infuriating. There is no wifi in the rooms (which to their credit is on the hotels.com website)which is major inconvenience and when you do get to the lobby (where there is wifi) it can get choppy. The breakfast selection is really good. The staff was attentive and polite. I thought it was a nice touch that they noted my birthday and had a cake sent up to my room. There is no excuse in the 21st century for no wifi

Quiet hotel with lovely pool and grounds

Posted Jun 9, 2015
Cons: My one moan would be the lack of power socketsin the room. The only one evident had the kettle plugged into it.
Location: 10 minutes out of Luxor and close to Karnak temple. Luxor temple, Museum, Valley of the Kings and Queens and other temples are easy to visit
I spent a week as a solo female traveller in this lovely hotel having previously stayed at the old Etap and New Winter Palacel. People really need to get back to Luxor to experience the wonderful Egyptian hospitality and its wealth of culture. There is a high evidence of security in the area and I always felt safe there. The hotel is in a quiet location with beautiful grounds which are well tended. Lovely clean pool. Staff were very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast had plenty of choice and the chef cooked me what I asked for in the evening. The rooms were clean and spacious although a little tired. The public areas were well maintained and clean and there was free wifi in the lobby area. The shuttle service was not running as often as I expect it would had the hotel been busier, but this is understandable. Taxis were cheap and easily available anyway. All in all a great place to stay. I would definitely stay here again.
