Convenient but blunt

Posted Dec 13, 2016 on Hotels
The hotel is a smart addition to the historic Winter Palace with access to all the common areas of the Winter Palace. However, the Pavillon building feels tired with no soul at all and the service was mediocre, at best. We went to the room to find no room service menu, the safebox had a problem and it was replaced and the mini bar was not fully refilled (even when we asked for it). The food in the hotel (including Winter Palace restaurant and pool bar) was extremely disappointing! The location was very convenient and the room size was pretty good with view to the beautiful garden of the hotel.

A special hotel, don't hesitate to book it!

Pros: The staff can't do enough for you, lovely people, good fun to be with. Breakfast is high quality and enough variation to keep anyone happy.
Cons: A lick of paint here and there but that's being very finicky
Location: Perfect, sit on the Nile terrace smoke a Shisa with a Gin and tonic it doesn't get better. Access to all the ancient sites is so easy.
We were greeted with a very warm welcome, as you enter the lobby you know you are in a special place it's truly something out of an old movie almost expecting Agatha Christie to walk around the corner...it's quite beautiful, simply wandering around the old hotel is a joy and sitting in the old bar gives you a bit of a James Bond feel!!! You stay in the Pavillion which is across the amazing gardens...this is modern, built I think in 1996, the rooms and bathroom are very spacious albeit a little bit tired could do with a bit of touching up here and there but honestly a very small point. Very clean and changed daily, lovlely balcony overlooking the gardens and pool.

A lovely treat

In the faded grandeur of the Winter Palace wing we had a relaxing stay, friendly & helpful staff, clean & comfortable rooms with balcony overlooking the beautiful gardens, fab pool, & close to everything - recommended.

Lovely hotel and wonderful staff. However, the air conditioning in the room was barely effective against the heat of Egypt in the summer.
