The hotel is in the former Holland America building and is very close to the cruise terminal and the Metro. Our room was quite large, the bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was large as well.

Our suit was one of the most beautiful I have stayed in. It was expertly renovated in a contemporary style while maintaining exquisite old woodwork, soaring high ceiling, fireplace, modern large beautiful bathroom, large windows overlooking river, comfortable king bed, large modern soaker tub and enormous velvet sectional couch. The hotel itself is very quirky. It is very old, mazelike but interesting and charming. The entrance is much like a speakeasy, unubtrusive. Several steep steps, no porter in sight, lead to a small old reception area. There is one small slow elevator. Staff throughout the property were helpful and friendly. Complementary drinking water and delicious in room coffee. Buffet breakfast substantial and tasty. Excellent value. Very short walk to cruise ship terminal.
