Great BUT expensive

Posted Jul 16, 2012
Pros: location on the beachfront
Cons: price
Location: Beachfront
Great hotel and location right on the waterfront, great view of the beach. Nice restaurant downstairs. Parking is extra charge, and expensive,on top of this it is a 10-15 min walk away, not convenient really , but parking in Lyme Regis is very difficult. It's not a bad thing to get the car parked and walk everywhere. Wifi is extra as well which is a shame, as it's free everywhere else , this is disappointing. You do get the first 10 mins free but the second disappointment is that the wifi connection is quite poor( at least my 10 mins worth was). The rooms are not air-conditioned, and can get humid, but we found it was OK. We had a two bed suite, the second bedroom had a bunk bed. I think it would be crowded with 4 people for the whole suite, it would be better for two adults and two children. The shower room is tiny beware, you can't really change in there. Although clean and nice I would have expected more for the price, like a little more room in the bathroom, air-conditioning and free Wifi. The restaurant was good, with a view of the beach and good food. Service here was friendly and welcoming. Overall the criticisms are not major BUT it is expensive. We have stayed in similar rooms or had two separate rooms, with aircon, free parking and wifi, on a beach in Dorset and Devon for about two thirds to half this price. Have a look around. By the way eat at Hix's restaurant, great service location and seafood.

Location: Right on the waterfront with great sea views.
My (adult) daughter and I were made to feel most welcome and the staff bent over backwards to accommodate us. The room was very comfortable and we had a great night's sleep. Dinner in the restaurant was lovely, and the chef agreed to change the menu for me at breakfast - much appreciated and it was perfect. Btw, you can have continental AND full English! The staff kindly agreed to let us leave our bags in the room and after spending the afternoon fossil hunting in Charmouth, and getting sopping wet, we were allowed to return to the room to dry out. That was a life saver as we had to journey back to London that day. Thoroughly recommend this hotel for courtesy, comfort and culinary delight!

Lovely location

The location of the Bay was exactly as expected right on the Waterfront with impressive views of the Cobb. The views from the room and during breakfast were excellent. On the negative side the suite we had was a strange lay out with the ensuite right next to the head of the bed. Friendly staff were helpful but this is a small hotel with a number of space issues.
