We loved the hotel, it had everything we needed, and the kids absolute loved the pool. We used the pool twice, once as we arrived and once in the morning before we left. The beds were comfy and we had a balcony. Loved it. Walking distance to the centre, but we drove as our kids were tired.

Service was hit and miss. It was very busy in the hotel, and it seems Van Der Valk is taking their clients a bit for granted these days. Forgot to clean our room and our calls gor service were ignored/forgotten several times.

Restsurant service is not that good
We have waited fir 1:15 minutes for our food. They didnt even ask us if we are okay we jyst waited and waited but they forgot our order. Its not nice . But then it arrived after 1:15 minutes at least they can say to you a free drinks or something for a long wait.

Nice stay but service can be improved
The hotel was very comfortable and the rooms were large and were quite nice. Due to Covid, we needed to schedule use of the pool area. The pool and saunas were a plus to our stay. The gym however was not cleaned regularly so the machines looked dirty and the room was hot. If there was air conditioning it did not work. Breakfast was excellent and overall the food was good. However, service was not very good and food service was not coordinated. For example, our children's food was served after ours, which is unusual and something we have not really experienced ever.... and that says something because we travel a lot and have lived on a couple of different continents. Room service messed up our order ("lost" it) and of course those with children can imagine the types of fallout from late dinners due to mistakes in room service. Again, that made for an unpleasant experience. However despite those gaffes, we would stay here again.

The design of the hotel is a bit kitsch but likeable. The rooms are spacious, the bathrooms are very nice with comfortable baths (in the deluxe room at least). The spa and pool are very nice with views outdoors from the sauna and pool. On the downside the pillows on the beds are too high (for me). I found another pillow in the cupboard and it was also too high. There are numerous decorative cushions but no selection of sleeping pillows. I had to roll up a towel instead of the high pillow in order to get some comfort.

The property is right of the motorway, not really walkable to the city center because of the major roads. The hotel does offer a shuttle into the city, but it only runs during the day. The hotel is currently under renovation. Renovated rooms are nice and clean, but sections under construction are exposed. The hotel bills itself as a spa, but the spa services are very limited. Additionally, the spa area has glass walls that are not fully sealed, and it’s quite noisy. Spa staff was young and generally lacked experience. When large groups were load in the pool or spa areas, no staff addressed this, making my treatments less than relaxing. Additionally, rooms are not quiet. There was A LOT of noise in the hallway through the night. Again, no staff addressed this. One night people were running down one hall knocking on doors and yelling. Rooms over the hotel entrance are loud. I would not recommend this hotel for a peaceful weekend getaway.

Good stay for visiting Maastricht
Very nice bedroom with a very good bed and super shower. Only some construction going on in the hotel. Free shuttle service to the city was nice too.

A great experience from start to finish
Everyone from Reception through to Restaurant and Bar were really nice, Professional and helpful. The only downside was that the builders were in reconstructing a number of rooms, but they were quite. This is absolutely necessary to keep the hotel in great shape. Not all staff had English, but that’s my problem for not having Dutch, not theirs

Lost its grandeur
Old style hotel with one single redeeming quality: it is in the middle of town. No AC, no parking, noisy, lousy/old bathroom with not enough towels. Street/tourist noise is horrendous and with the windows open (no ac remember) forget about catching some sleep.

Great choice for Maastricht
I have stayed in this hotel multiple times for business, and I highly recommend it. This hotel offers great features at a very good value, this hotel has it all, you cannot go wrong by staying at Van der Valk Hotel in Maastricht. Free parking, free internet (fast), great indoor pool, good spa and gym, very good restaurant and bar. This hotel offers a free shuttle service for the city center of Maastricht during the weekends only, this hotel is located about 10 minutes away by car from Maastricht’s downtown area. There are restaurants and super markets in the vicinity of the hotel. Overall, once again, a very good stay at this hotel.

Overall a great stay at this hotel. Very comfortable beds, clean facilities, good restaurant and bar, good indoor pool and spa, overall this hotel is very good and has it all. Free parking, free (fast) internet, very good multilingual front desk. If you have plans of visiting the city of Maastricht or its surroundings, this hotel is without a doubt an excellent choice, you will not be disappointed. A very good hotel in the Maastricht area
I used this hotel for business purposes, I needed two things out of this location (parking for a big vehicle and fast internet - both are free of charge) this hotel provided both and it didn’t disappoint, it made my job much easier. The hotel has two options for food (their restaurant and bar) the two places have good food, the breakfast is good, the hotel offers everything one could hope for and more, during the weekends they offer a free shuttle service to the city of Maastricht (13 minutes drive by car), this hotel is located 11 minutes away from Margraten cemetery, overall this hotel is very clean and safe, the area around the hotel is safe too, the location is excellent. Their indoor pool is very good, their sauna as well and their gym are good too, overall I am very satisfied with my stay at this hotel (several days due to my job assignment) I would recommend this hotel to friends and family without a doubt. If you are in Maastricht for business or trying to visit Margraten cemetery this is probably the best location based on distance to both places, I would recommend this hotel to do three things to improve, get rid of the doubles beds and add a king size bed instead like the Van der Valk Eindhoven, please include the tiramisu dessert from the Eindhoven or Schiphol locations and please bring ketchup with french fries! You have everything you need to be a great Hotel not a good one, use of what you have to become better.
