The hotel was booked based on its closeness to the Peak District National Park, however both the hotel and area were a surprise, with more to do than I had anticipated and the car stayed firmly within the hotel car park.
For a long weekend the walking was sufficient (unless you're a hardened hiker), easy walking down into Bollington and along the canal, as well as several cross country routes. Bollington it self had some decent eateries, although take care early in the week as many places are closed Mondays.
We could not fault the staff for their friendliness or service given the current restrictions in place.
The hotel was clean and tidy, with a welcoming open fire in the reception area on arrival. Breakfast was great, as was the restaurant for the evening meals. We would however recommend the Bulls Head roughly 5 minutes form the hotel into Kerridge, great tapas!! (again take care earlier in the week and check opening hours)
The bedroom (we opted for a suite) was clean and tidy, had exceptional views over the grounds and beyond. the bed and fittings were very comfortable, clean bathroom with both bath and shower, and a constant supply of hot water (not always the case in some places I've stayed)
Overall, the stay exceeded our expectations, and we will be heading back, hopefully without the current restrictions (covid)....
