Bad Knights Inn in Mackinaw City

Posted Oct 17, 2017 on Hotels
Our stay at Knights Inn was truly awful. When I turned on the water for the shower yellow water came out. There were two dirty moldy rubber mats in the bottom of the tub. Mold in several places in the bathroom. Breakfast was supposed to be available at 7 AM. About 7:05 I went to the office for the breakfast--the office was dark and the door locked. There was a scrap of paper on the door which said for service to call a number. I called that number twice; twice it rang and then disconnected. About 7:20 the clerk showed up in a bathrobe half falling off of her. She had put out some old donut holes (4 left in the box). We didn't dare eat or drink anything because of the condition of the room. Bad, bad!

False advertising

Posted Oct 9, 2017
Pros: Close to the bridge
Cons: Fix the things that didn't work and don't advertise things that aren't going to be in the rooms.
Location: Lake, bridge, limited shopping
Online it said there were refrigerators and microwaves in the rooms, that was not true. I asked the hotel staff after I went to my room and saw they weren't in the room. I was told not all of the rooms have them. But those things were reasons we decided to get our room at Knights Inn. The bathroom exhaust fan and drying light didn't work, only the light.

When there are things in the room that need to be fixed please let the front desk know and we will fix the problem. We do not advertise that all rooms have a refrigerator and microwave.

Left items

Posted Sep 24, 2017
I booked 2 rooms for 8 people on Sept 16 and one us left his Ralph Lauren olive green denim jacket hanging in front of the bathroom in Room 222 when we checked out on Sept 17. We're pretty sure he left it there because some of us saw it hanging in the room but never paid attention because we thought the owner of the jacket will picked it up him himself but he forgot about it and just remembered when we were already in Traverse lCity. When I called the hotels on Sept 18 after I spoke with a woman employee and she said she was actually in the room while we were talking and she found nothing. I kept saying we checked out on Sept 17 not Sept 18 and seemed to be ignoring what I said. Of course, she would not find anything because the room might have been cleaned already and somebody else occupied the room. Is there anyway this matter can be investigated? We can't believe that the jacket cannot be found in the room after we left. Thanks.

We went to your room as soon as you called and there was no jacket found. No one had been in your room since you had checked out and the jacket was not in the room. We hope you found your jacket, but it was not left at our hotel

Perfect place to stay for the bridge run or walk!!

Posted Sep 8, 2017
It's within walking distance to the Recreational Facility at 507 W. Central. Once you are done with the walk/race you can watch everyone cross the finish line and hear the DJ. Great view of the bridge. This is within walking distance to all stores too. Sheplers is the closest ferry dock and that is walking distance also. Room is updated and very nice. Back your vehicle right up to the door of your room. Unfortunately, if you get a room during Labor Day time you have to purchase two nights. No hair dryer supplied. Great prices for a two night stay.

Not bad the for the price!

Posted Aug 23, 2017
Pros: Great rates and the room wasn't that bad.
Cons: The pillows did feel like I was sleeping on cotton balls. Using two seemed to help, though.
Location: Check out the dark sky park nearby for stargazing, downtown Mackinaw, and cross the bridge. There is a waterfall 2 hours north.
We stayed here when we came to visit Mackinaw for the Persid Meteor Shower. We drove up on a Thursday night from Chicago, so we arrived around 2 AM. Although the place doesn't technically 24 hour check-in, the owner told me to call her when we arrived and she would wake up and check us in, which I appreciated. The next day, room service came to us to ask if we needed cleaning, anything extra, etc, which was great. The overall condition of the hotel was decent - you get what you pay for. We stayed directly above the office, but it was clean. Breakfast was composed of toast, yogurt, and muffins. They were pretty fresh too. We had a positive experience here, despite the poor reviews, so I'm not sure why so many disliked their stay. We'd come again.

Dissatisfied

Posted Jul 23, 2017 on Hotels
We was given a room that had not even been cleaned although they promptly gave us a other room I was not satisfied with the service ice there was no one available to check us out and no direction what to do with the keys to check out in their absence. The "free breakfast" consisted of dry doughnuts in a package. We were very disappointed and will not stay there again

We walk the property and greet guests in the mornings. There is a basket for the keys on the desk. Our continental breakfast is assorted breads for toast, doughnuts, muffins, yogurts, juice and coffee.
