Nice enough hotel and close to everything.Posted Sep 13, 2015
Pros: That it's close to everything and it's not on a hill which is helpful when you have an older member of the family with you
Cons: Free wifi throughout the hotel not just in the reception area.
Location: Close enough to walk to Funchal, to beaches and walks on the promenade. Lots of restaurants to suit everyone.
Arrived at hotel and the rooms were not what was excepted. There was no coffee or tea maker. We travelled with my dad who is old and he wanted to make his tea but couldn't. He was upset. The young lady at the front desk called Christina was very helpful. She changed my dad's room straight away. The new room was very pleasing with fantastic sea views,a little kitchen with fridge and cooker.I decided to keep my room as I really didn't want tea or coffee, but there was a little fridge which was nice to keep your water cold.We had a very joyful holiday and time at Alto Lido hotel. Just one thing that I need to mention is that the charge for snooker table is too expensive.

Un hotel confortable en afueras Funchal.Posted Aug 26, 2015

Lovely hotel. Excellent staff. Good facilities.Posted Aug 19, 2015
Pros: All the staff were extremely helpful. Comfortable, clean, friendly. Nice bar & lounge area.
Cons: Kettles in all rooms and the wifi was a little hit & miss
Location: A great location between Funchal City and the Forum area (about 20 mins walk either way). A great choice of bars and restaurants in the area.
Things didn't start well when I discovered I had left my reservation voucher at home but the reception staff sorted it out. We had booked a self catering apartment with breakfast but were upgraded to a suite. Only downside with this was not having a kettle etc but the view from our room which looked out onto the ocean & over the allotments far outweighed this. This was our 2nd time in Funchal and it wont be our last, for such a small island it has so much to offer and there a still some things on our "to do" list.

Buenas vistas y agradablePosted Aug 3, 2015
El mobiliario está un poco anticuado, el suelo es de moqueta y esta bien ubicado. El personal es muy agradable y atento.

Dissappointing for a 4* HotelPosted Jul 29, 2015
Pros: The location was acceptable and overall cost of stay was not expensive.
Cons: Breakfast food could be improved
Location: Location is fine and close to many amenities
Hotel reception staff were helpful and check in was quick. We were located in the tower block but found that lifts were often busy and at breakfast times it was regular to wait for a while before lift could be accessed. Rooms were generally comfortable but carpet was stained and there were no tea making facilities provided. Hotel would need to be modernised before I would use again.

Excellent hotel in good location for restaurants ePosted Jul 27, 2015
Pros: The food and friendly staff
Location: Location good for restaurants without having to go into Funchal town itself. Trips to Monte, Santana (in local bus) and Nun's valley well worth the v
Found all staff to be friendly and helpful, breakfast buffet excellent and could not think of anything else that could be included in choice. Rooms clean and big enough for 2 people. We had verandah with side view of sea and the local allotments. We were on 14th floor and were not disturbed by any traffic noise. The hotel bus runs into Funchal at times good for local bus connections there. It stops at the far end of the Marina so not far to walk into town centre. The 2 pools were well maintained. Towels can be hired and deposit is refunded. Have to pay to use jaccuzzi, sauna and squash. The Airport bus stop is situated on the street below hotel and have to go down steps which is not so good if case heavy. Having a fridge in room was handy and there is a supermarket 5 minutes walk from hotel.

Comfortable hotel close to shops & resterauntsPosted Jun 9, 2015
Pros: Location, pleasant staff and convenience to local facilities
Cons: The need to do more to make the bar more attractive to hotel guests, for example Happy Hour is only a miserable 20% off when most hotels offer 50%
Location: Well placed for shops, supermarkets local buses and resteraunts
Enjoyable, staff friendly and helpful. Good range of choices for breakfast. Plenty of sunbeds to choose from although some Europeans still placed towels on beds to reserve them well before bothering to come down to the poolside - totally unnecessary.
