Away from the town

Posted Dec 8, 2016
Pros: It was very clean and comfortable, with lovely views over the sea. Lovely pool area and indoor pool with some gym facilities.
Cons: Slightly disappointed with the size of the pool
Location: The area is very hilly, so for people with problems walking might struggle. We found the vicinity offered good eateries, and a lovely shopping mall.
The Regency Cliff Hotel is about 3km from the centre of Funchal, but has everything you need. The hotel is very comfortable, with very friendly helpful staff. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and ours had a nice balcony with a sea view. The food is excellent, the breakfast bar has a good selection and the evening meals are varied and with plenty of choice.

Lovely hotel on cliff top

Posted Dec 8, 2016
Hotel was clean and staff very friendly. It's about 20 minutes walk to centre of Funchal but there are plenty of local restaurants nearby. Breakfast was plentiful. There were pastries cereals and hot choices as well as fruit salad and yoghurts but it would have been.nice to have a variety of choices during the week but that's a minor criticism.

Superb

Just returned from 4 days at regency cliff. Hotel in great location as well as being clean and easy to find. Staff all friendly and nothing to much trouble. Room great size with a view to die for, and an enormous bed.

The hotel is excellent! With large and clean rooms! The room we had been given was lovely - with a big balcony and lovely view! The restorant of the hotel has the best terrace you can have your breakfast or dinner on,with a breathtaking view! The staff was really nice and always ready to help!

Overall a comfortable well-situated hotel.

Posted May 28, 2016
Pros: Good position close to Forum shops, Pingo Doce supermarket on lower level, and coast promenade. Bus stops outside. Lots of restaurants. No children
Cons: Bathroom facilities. Also lights on two way switch meant even with help from reception at 10:30pm it took 10 minutes to figure out how to turn off.
Location: Good location for shops, views, buses, restaurants.
Nice balcony with comfortable chairs. Bed comfortable but unable to have just sheet as some sort of blanket in duvet cover system so tended to get too hot. Fridge nice for cold drinks of our own. Bathroom needs work. Counter space used up by tissue dispenser - should be attached to the wall as taking a tissue knocked glass into sink. Bath very deep so hard to get out and fixed shower glass meant had to get into the bath to reach taps, plug, shower head. No wash cloth provided. Hair dryer was a vacuum cleaner hose which took ages to blow dry. Only 2 towels (1 each) for bath so had to use hand towel by bidet for hair or as wash cloth. Breakfast fine but advise you to avoid cooked food as made my husband quite sick as tepid. Nice homemade yoghurt with fresh fruit. Was given cold bottled water and fruit basket on arrival which was appreciated. Overall good hotel.

Nice hotel in convenient location

Posted Apr 19, 2016
Cons: Shame there was no a la carte menu during our stay. Just buffet or 3 course set menu (choice of 2 at each course). Also bar only opened at 6:00pm.
Superior room was excellent with huge bed, lots of space and lovely bathroom. Outlook ok but not brilliant from 215 (pool & neighbouring apartments). Restaurant and staff very nice, and breakfast buffet excellent.

Contemporary hotel with stunning sea views

Posted Mar 31, 2016
Pros: We liked the sea views, the location close to good restaurants and the friendly staff
Cons: The Wifi was rather intermittent. It worked for us in reception but not in our rooms. Also, the breakfast tables inside only catered for couples.
Location: Good location. Can walk into Funchal old town. Good restaurants nearby. Cable car up to Monte and Botanical Gardens.
The hotel staff very very friendly. We had a superior room and lovely sea views. Room was very spacious. Had B&B only and ate out each evening. The hotel staff helped us to find some good local restaurants - all within walking distance. We walked into Funchal old town which was 2 miles each way. Also used the complimentary hotel taxi to take us there and back. Lots to see and do around Funchal. Would stay at this hotel again if going to Madeira. Liked the fact it has less than 60 rooms so felt more personal.

Excellent hotel in spectacular location

Posted Mar 6, 2016
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff
Cons: Nothing of any note
Location: See above
Enjoyed a relaxing week in the sun (most of the time) and pleasant temperatures. Funchal centre was an hour's walk away (hotel also provided a courtesy car return service ) and provided good shopping facilities, parks, restaurants and bars. The hotel offered a good deal on 3-course evening meals including an aperitif and coffee.

Very nice and welcoming hotel, very helpful.

Posted Aug 11, 2015
Pros: As above helpfulness. The courtesy car to take you into the town centre. Anything needed sorting straight away...
Cons: Breakfast as stated above...
Location: Many things to do. we asked at the desk, took leaflets and asked the other guests.
Hotel very nice, we were given an upgrade. the room was spacious tidy and clean. The bed was huge which we loved as you could really sprawl out.:) Breakfast is self service which we prefer very nice but a little more variety would be nice e.g sausages to spicy same ones everyday, hash browns were lovely but only put out once a week, scrambled egg a bit bland fried egg would have been nice! Very helpful with any questions that needed answering and they would actually put them selves and sort things.
