Lovely hotel

Posted Apr 18, 2017
Pros: See above - everything!
Cons: Nothing
Stayed 3 nights at this hotel and would not hesitate to stay here again. Everything about the place is so friendly and welcoming. The staff are so helpful and nice and nothing is too much trouble. The bedrooms are large and spacious. The bar is very welcoming and the happy hour an added bonus. The breakfast is amazing - plenty of choice and eggs cooked to order. Swimming pools are a great addition and welcoming after a days sightseeing. Open nice and early in the morning too! Courtesy bus into town useful too. Only small downside was getting to the hotel from the Aerobus stop but that was not the hotels fault.

Many thanks for your delightful feedback following your recent stay at the Quintinha de São João. Your tone is so refreshing and we can see that you had a lovely holiday... the fact that you were welcome goes without saying but we are so pleased that you found our staff friendly and eager to please. We are also very happy that you wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and look forward to this event greatly. Perhaps the most accessible "Aerobus" stop is the one in front of the Casino. The road opposite is a gentler climb to the Quintinha! Kind regards, yours sincerely, André Barreto - General Manager.

Classy hotel, easy walking distance from the centr

Posted Apr 15, 2017
Pros: It was a nice walk away from the centre so you where close enough without being in the middle of things. I liked everything about this hotel - it was
Cons: Nothing, but be warned room service costs 5 euros.
Location: Just up Rua Carreira and on a bit, so a bit out of town but not too much so.
Beautiful, big room, staff were lovely. two pools - both clean. Lots of facilities but the cosiness of a small hotel. Breakfast fab. So many good things, cannot complain about anything.

A most delightful stay. Hotel excels on service.

Have no hesitation in recommending. In every respect, one of the best hotels for quality of personal service decor and ambience we have stayed in. Nothing too much trouble. A thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing week.

Comfortable & friendly five star hotel in Madeira

Posted Mar 27, 2017
Pros: Peaceful, quiet, comfortable, good breakfasts. Most residents were on return visits. Wonderful service in bar and delicious afternoon teas.
Cons: We were there in March and the sun went off the garden about 3.30. I would be nice to have more sitting places in sunny spots in the garden then.
Location: Lovely quick walk into town past decaying buildings, hard walk walking back uphill, but taxis cheap. Good area for old town and café restaurants.
A very comfortable hotel, furnished with antiques and beautiful flower displays. The staff are wonderful and nothing is too much trouble, always a smile on their faces.

Excellent small hotel close to the town of Funchal

Posted Mar 26, 2017
Pros: The location, size, staff and facilities.
Cons: Not a lot!
Location: Close to the town centre but on a hillside so if you are wanting to walk you have to be fit. Close to most amenities you could want.
Second visit after a 3 year gap. As good if not better than last time! Staff are excellent and friendly, food and rooms very good as well.

Excellent hotel in Funchal Madiera

Posted Mar 24, 2017
Pros: Excellent service, very comfortable and peaceful.
Cons: Nothing
Location: Located in a quiet street, away from the main hotel area. Not a lot to do in the immediate locality, but excellent restaurants 10-15 mins walk away
We had a week at the Qintinha Sao Jao. It is an old manor house, which has been converted into a luxury hotel. A very peaceful place, just away from the very centre of Funchal. About 15 minutes walk from the very centre. (20 mins back because it is up hill!). The staff were very attentive, and the breakfast buffet was to die for! The restaurant which opens in the evenings is sophisticated, and specialises in Goan cuisine. The room was enormous, very clean and comfortable and service was excellent. We would go there again if we were visiting Madiera.

Wonderful, relaxed hotel with that personal touch

Posted Mar 18, 2017
What a wonderful hotel. Our room was big, airy, clean and comfortable. Loved the hotel grounds and the comfy lounge area to sit and chat. The staff were all so helpful, caring, efficient and friendly. Nothing was to much trouble. You felt part of a family here. This place has character. It's not concrete tower block where the receptionist don't know you from one day to the next. The breakfast is divine. A good selection of choices on the buffet -plus hot food to order. At first I thought the location was further out from the town than I had thought. But I was wrong. Find your bearings and you are on a bus route. Plus the hotel has a mini bus which can take you into Funch. You can walk into Funchal or walk along to the hotel district. Both easy reach on foot is a short bus ride. thouroughly recommend this place.
