Heat wave!Posted Jul 24, 2012
Pros: Friendliness and cleanliness
Cons: High, concrete hotels surrounding the vila
Location: Easy access into the centre of funchal. Excellent bus service.
My husband and I have just enjoyed a lovely week at Vila Vicencia. We were greeted warmly by Mario and our suitcases were carried to our rooms. We appreciated the extra living room and balcony in the junior suite with a good sized fridge, kettle and mugs! Everything was very clean! We knew that there was no air-conditioning but they were experiencing a heat wave!! Mario instantly supplied us with a fan when we requested it. We slept blssfully to the hum of the noise which drowned out the buses and traffic on the main road nearby! The gardens are lovely ( a shame that the hotel is surrounded by concrete monstrosities!) and the pool adequate for a couple of strokes and an essential place to cool down from the heat. Such a shame that there were so many forest fires over the island during our stay! The breakfast was plentiful: juice, cereal, fresh fruit, ham, salami and cheese, bread, croissant/toast, jams, yoghurts and 2 choices of cooked food, usually egg and bacon. Good coffee! We were able to help ourselves to non-alcoholic drinks which we paid for at the end of the week. Generally a very comfortable stay!

Very nice B&B, but not 4 star. Swimming pool was not heated and too cold to use. We had booked a room with a balcony which was not available.

Vila Vicencia MadeiraPosted Oct 9, 2011 on Hotels
I cannot fault the service at the Vila. A lovely quiet oasis. The only negative is the lack of air conditioning or a fan. The room at night was so hot.

Sehr nett gefuehrtes privates Hotel.Posted May 21, 2011
Einzig: Harte Betten, jedoch in allen, auch besseren Hotels so - wohl eine Eigenart Madeiras bzw. auch Portugal.
