Hotel stay

Posted Jan 8, 2017
Pros: I liked the restaurants in the hotel and room service.
Cons: When I checked in the person checking me in didn't explain where everything was. I had to ask.
My experience was great. The room was clean, the staff were very helpful. I like that there was a parking garage.

Heating/AC units powered by battleship engines

Posted Dec 19, 2016
Room heating and AC units sound like they are powered by surplus battleship engines. The racket is astounding. The same thing occurred two weeks ago in a different room which I wrote off to chance - not so! I couldn't sleep - I won't be back. Also, since I am unimpressed by artisanal soap and chrome waste baskets there was nothing better than adequate about this hotel.

I'm sorry you were disappointed Dave. We plan to have new AC units installed this year. I hope you will give us another chance.

"exclusive Executive Lounge"

Posted Dec 8, 2016
Pros: location, comfortable, pretty quite rooms
Cons: at least in this instance, customer service. really, how much would it have cost them extra to comps 2 drinks that they advertised we should have had.
booked one of their "executive rooms: "1 KING BED DELUXE ROOM LAKEVIEW" said gave access to: "exclusive Executive Lounge" "vibrant Capitol Club" website says: "Executive Room perks include complimentary breakfast and beverages in our exclusive Executive Lounge." http://www3.hilton.com/en/hotels/wisconsin/hilton-madison-monona-terrace-MSNMHHF/index.html We checked in and when in room I called down to ask about the Executive lounge, how late open, where at. They informed me then there was a wedding and we could not have access to that floor. I let them know part of reason booked room (for wife and I a night once 6-12 months away from kids) to have a drink before we went out to eat. Since they had two other lounges, and since the drinks were to be free in the Executive lounge I asked if they could comp us couple drinks at one of the other two lounges in lobby area. She put me on hold and then came back and said they could not do that but would give us two free breakfasts. My room already came with complimentary breakfasts and we don't eat in the hotel anyway as big part of why we stay in the area is there are very good options to try outside the hotel. So that was that, no other offer, not a sorry, nothing. She said that is all they could do since I booked thru Expedia. I did not push at time as was just glad to have night away but was very disappointed especially since this was one of their highest cost rooms and was advertised.

inexperienced staff

Posted Nov 28, 2016
Valet/ Doorman advised ran out of parking. Gave poor directions to alt lot- and wouldn't validate or compensate error and inconvenience as booked through Expedia. GA's reservations at expensive hotel restaurant - sat us at half wall separating the bar. Loud drunk people on other side placing empty glasses on rail above our heads was not cool. Waiter and food were good.

good position to city attractions

Posted Nov 26, 2016
the main problem for us was the refurbishment of the hotel security ,which meant , to us ,was the fact of 2 types of keys in use ,and sometimes ,no keys were workable ,so, trying to contact a hotel operative ,late in the evening ,to operate the car park gate was tedious .The hotel and staff were good for us

Wisconsin Hotel Stay

Posted Nov 18, 2016
Pros: breakfast buffet
Cons: Pricing and valet/bellboy help More towels in Bathroom
Location: we were there to visit my niece for the homecoming game at University of Wisconsin. State Street was cool.
It was an average stay. I have stayed at many HIlton's across the country, and was disappointed. We had to ask for the room to be cleaned. The coffee pot didn't have the tray, and I had to call for it. We had to ask for towels. For a Hilton Hotel, I was a bit disappointed in the comfort of the bed as well. The valet didn't approach us to help, nor did the "bell boys". My brother like the "hard" beds as he has a bad back, but I didn't sleep well. I did love that there was a blow dryer in the bathroom that was compatible with my diffuser. We had the breakfast buffet before we left and that was really good. The staff at the restaurant was nice and I had a great Omelette. I booked through expedia, and when I called to get my hilton honors, I wasn't able to use them. The room was overpriced for the stay as well.

Pros: Restaurant.
Cons: Room needs attention to "detail." The exercise room is in need of some weight training equipment.
Location: Conveniently located near to the State Capitol and State Street.
Generally speaking, a nice hotel. The restaurant was excellent with very good food and good service. The shortcoming was the room. The room was very warm. The air conditioner would work for a few minutes and then stop. One lampshade was completely broken and dangling. The toilet seat was connected by only one screw. At least it only came loose when it had to be used. Relatively minor issues, but relatively minor issues should be easily resolved. It is unlikely that these problems arose overnight.
