A check-in disaster.

We arrived about 90 minutes after check-in time, to find a lobby full of people and two staff members behind the desk that had no idea how to handle the mess they had. The hotel had no rooms ready due to (apparently) a shortage of housekeeping help. When the man behind the desk told the party of four in front of me their room wasn't ready, he then proceeded to engage them in small talk and offer them alcohol instead of asking them to wait off to the side while he waited on other people. When I finally got up to the desk, he proceeded to stare at his computer monitor for a good five minutes, looking, clicking, typing, looking.....not bothering to say a word. When I finally asked him if there was an issue, he said he was trying to find a room somebody else had already booked and give it to us and find them another room when they showed up later. Fifteen minutes later we finally got a room. Oh,and we were offered a beer. When I pay for a "premium" hotel, I expect premium service. Our stay at a Comfort Inn the night before went much more smoothly, for half the price. No apology, no offer of compensation (besides the beer). The two desk people had NO people skills whatsoever and had no business being in their positions.
