Friendly and central hostal
This hostal is very central being right beside the mercado which is a hive of social activity and delicious food until midnight. GReat buzz altogether. Nearest Metro in Sol at a walk of approx 7mins. Well priced for an individual room with shared bathroom I would definitely visit again. Very friendly and helpful staff.

This was a very central location in the heart of everything. That being said, there were bugs in our room, the showers could have been cleaner and there were no towels. Great for a short budget stay, but better if you don't spend a lot of time in the room.

It’s clean tidy , the room smells good but the stairs don’t, and the reason is the old mop . What I don’t like is the shared bathrooms. Less privacy!!

The location is fabulous, right behind the Mercado de San Miguel. 10 min walk from Madrid Sol. Room was very small but very clean.

The best location and great service
The location is excellent! Very clean, helpful and friendly staff, you can walk to many places from there, it was a little hard to find it because they only have a tiny sign at the door, it is right it front of Mercado San Miguel which is a great spot to eat, our stay was awesome, definitely recommend

Great location. Traditional Spanish feel.
The hotel had a perfect location just 100 metres from Plaza Mayor. It had an old traditional feel to the hotel. Basic but very clean. The staff were also very friendly and helpful.

It's a very interesting place to stay, with a prime location, close to Plaza Mayor, very close to everything that one would want to see. I would recommend it highly to independent travelers, ones who would like to be close to the local culture. It has about 9 private rooms and three bathrooms, so showers are usually available, but do bring your own soap, shampoo, and towel ( This isn't a Hilton by any stretch.). The staff were very helpful, and their English was fluent. The only difficulty is the nightime noise, which carries through the thin walls.

Good location with cramped space
Convenient location but too many units/rooms on each floor. Poor ventilatIon throughout, particularly in narrow hallways. With shared bathrooms, one could easily catch germs from others, if one guest has caught flu or cold.

If you are afraid of catching viruses from other guests I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY YOU RENT A ROOM WITH A SHARED BATHROOM? There are thousands of offers in Madrid for rooms with private bathrooms but of course the price is not the same!

Easy walk to the restaurants bars and attractions. Glad we didn't have a car no parking. Great for a two week stay as it has a washing machine,kitchen and super tv

A good central location and friendly staff but I've some suggestions for this place: Make it clear for customers if a room has no window. Even in a budget hostel, most people would reasonably expect one. Rooms feel like closets without them! Have a look at your Wi-Fi and TV service. They weren't working well when I stayed. Unless this was an anomaly, it probably needs attention. Try and make the doorbell sign clearer. It's not easy to see at the moment. HTH

Central hostal, good value for money
Friendly staff, very near Plaza Mayor and only 5 minutes to Puerta de Sol. Perfect for short stay or students as this is an affordable hostal with basic requirements, kept very clean. Isn't very large so for small parties and is only a bed and a bathroom, but if that's all you need then would recommend!

OK, but there is better out there for some price
Room was cold with no heating. The room also had no window or light from outside(was like a prison) there was no window of any kind. I would avoid the check in girl was not that friendly and unpleasant. They need to learn customer service. There was no lift(lots of stairs to rooms). No cups, glasses or anything in room. No towels ( you had to rent them 1 euro each). AVOID.

Very good location next to the Mercado & next door is Plaza Mayor. Lots of good cafes, restaurants and interesting shops (including a street with several proper music shops) around. Charming & very helpful girl who speaks English very well was on reception. Quite noisy in the early evening when other guests were getting ready to go out but quiet at night. No window in my single room but I only stayed one night: if styaying longer I'd like a window perhaps. Several shared bathrooms. No towels: pay 1 euro for towel "hire". Sheets and blankets were clean but had seen better days. Comfortable enough bed. Room was clean but a bit of attention to decor (or maybe a freshening-up) would make it a better room. Opera metro is a walk down the street opposite, on the other side of the market square. V good price for such a good location. I'd stay here again. For a longer stay I'd enquire about a brighter room.

Great location but hard to find. Room was clean but no air circulation and à bit stuffy. Plus it smelled like they put à lot of cleaning production all over and the room and corridor smelled very strongly like à sort of spanish febreeze. But staff was very nice.

The hostel was very very clean and I hardly saw anyone around. The noise level was low and the location is more than perfect! Great hostel for price. Just keep in mind there are no mini fridges, no microwaves in the room etc. Just a bed, a smart tv and desk space.

Fantastic location for Madrid, right on a great food market and the Plaza Mayor. Very friendly staff. Clean room and the shared bathrooms were always clean. The front door was a little tricky to find but would overall definitely recommend. Cheap but not nasty!

The hostal was very clean, quiet and central. Everything you could want! It is a hostal so there are only shared bathrooms. However, I never once encountered anyone else using one of the three bathrooms and they were always very clean and fresh.

Wonderful room all to myself! Price of a hostal, but feels like I'm staying in someone's house. It's located right behind the San Miguel market. After staying in noisey rooms, it's a pleasant welcome to have a room all to myself. It comes with a TV, desk chair and hanger. There are 3 common bathrooms to the section of where your room is. Big, blue and very clean. This place is much better than a hostal and I would consider this more guestroom style, perfect place and great value if all you are looking for is a nice, quiet place to sleep and shower. No additional lounges, kitchen, etc.

Surprised by how good it turns out to be
The hotel has different rooms so my comments are based on my single room only. Feels like a cell with no windows and its size. But it has a fold out desk to write emails etc at which I love with a bad back. Good space for clothes etc so you can reasonably unpack and settle in. Three large excellent bathroom facilites. Staff always with a smile and pleasant to bump into. Right outside Mercado San Miguel, the best eatery I have come across in Europe, full of delicatessans and greengrocers but also brilliant tapas bars. Stays open late so expect to wander out and eat too much, at least I did. Great atmosphere around the hotel.
