beautiful hotel across from Parque de Retiro.

Posted Aug 20, 2016
Pros: super clean. historic and beautiful building with a multi-level lobby. very (!) sweet/kind staff; left candies and fruit for the kids many days.
Cons: Breakfast is pricey. We enjoyed their free am coffee only & ate at much better, local patisseries where breakfast averaged 20 euros instead of 60.
Location: atoche train station close; can take you to Segovia and other trains to Toledo,Salamanca, Barcelona close by. walking distance to Museo Prado & Ritz
Madrid is spectacular; food, sangria, and Flamenco!!! No humidity; but hot in August--bring good walking shoes and a hat :),locals are dressier than Americans; we enjoyed wearing our "nicer" summer clothes. Most Spaniards are on holiday in August; so we found shops and restaurants open & less crowded than expected. We ate and walked (!!) our way through this beautiful, clean city with 2 sons (12 &16) who also loved the history, food (Jamon Iberico sandwiches esp) and sites. Many beautiful Cathedrals in every city. In Madrid, we toured the Atletico Soccer stadium, Museo Prado, Palacio, Museo de Sorollo (a must!) and took train-rides to Salamanca, Segovia, and Toledo with its crazy small streets & shops. Half hour car ride with local friends to see El Escorial, which is awesome; you have to eat at their "cafeteria" where you can also stay for a quiet and old fashioned overnight/weekend retreat. The Petit Palace is a wonderful hotel across from Parque de Retiro and within walking distance to restaurants, Museo de Prado, & Ritz. Free bike rental a plus and always fresh cold water and friendly hotel staff to greet us and guide us to local places. Location is a quick cab ride to Rastro Fair (Sundays), Plaza de Mayor, Mercado de San Miguel for a delicious meal, and Hernanz, which is oldest place to buy hand made espadrilles. Local friends advised not to tip the usual 15-20% and instead only 1-2%. It feels weird, but it is customary and we quickly got used to it

Simple efficient hotel near jardine

Posted Aug 14, 2016
Well, this is a tough one. The interior decor was something that Sproket (yes, of SNL fame) would enjoy. Spartan, efficient, bland. But to make up for that lack of colour, the staff was great. All were friendly and helpful. The manager (whose name I unfortunately did not get) made sure that everything was run well and that guests were happy. And the continental breakfast was wonderful. They had a nice selection of fresh fruit, pastries, drinks, cheese, and an awesome coffee machine. Normally we eat in local cafes just to get a flavour of the town, but this place was so good we decided to eat in. They also have a nice perk of free bike loaners. These are great for exploring, especially the huge bustling garden just across the street. The rooms were simple and clean. Thus the good prices. And if you were up for walking, you could see a lot of the key Madrid attractions. All in all, I would recommend this place. If you're a serious tourist who has come to see the city (vs getting pampered at the hotel), this place is just right.

Nice hotel

Posted Jul 28, 2016
Pros: Clean hotel and friendly staff. Fresh drinking water as you entered the hotel. Offered free bicycles to ride.
Cons: Have more free bicycles available.
Location: Close to train station and park.
Enjoyed being close to park and hotel had free bicycles to ride. However, they should have more bicycles available since we only got to use them one day.

Designhotel mitten in Madrid

Posted May 9, 2016
Pros: Gutes Bett, Regenwalddusche

TRES BON HOTEL TRES BON RAPPORT QUALITE/PRIX

Posted Apr 30, 2016
