Across the street from the Prado

Pros: The location is good for leisure activities. The staff we encountered are all very professional and nice. The breakfast buffet has a big variety.
Cons: The hotel rooms look dated and could be updated - in total. Details matter and I would not really consider this a 5 star - I would rate it 4.5.
Location: The Prado and Thyssen are right across the street from the hotel. Walking to restaurants/stores/Hop On/Hop Off buses are all within a 5 minute walk.
The hotel has a very interesting past as depicted in the bar/lounge. When entering the lobby it looks nice but not wow as I expect from a 5 star hotel. Check in process is fast and the staff we encountered during our stay were all very nice. The rooms however need to be made over. Wallpaper should be replaced along with carpeting. Westins are well known for their beds and sheets - our bed cover sheet had a few small holes in it and the mattress should be replaced. The rooms are spacious though. Judging from the other guests we saw there, this is definitely a hotel used by guests conducting business in Madrid. And a general comment for all hotels - get rid of bath tubs and just put in large showers. I don't know anybody that goes to a hotel to take a bath....

My best hotel stay in 2016

Pros: Location was handy for museums, and tours and the hotel interior was excellent, with great staff
Cons: What made it great, was we could see nothing that we would have wanted to improve
Location: Close to the major musuems (Prado) as well as the Botanical Gardens, and some gift shops on the Paseo del Prado, with several restaurants closeby
The hotel was in excellent condition, with our room being well appointed and comfortable for our needs. The hotel staff were polite and friendly, and the dining recommendations from the Concierge were excellent. They topped off my best stay of 2016 by sending a complimentary bottle of champagne for my partner's birthday, which we did not inform the hotel of (the picked it up in processing the registration).

Lovely hotel with a great atmosphere

Beautifully preserved features from 1912 when the hotel was opened. Excellent restaurants and bars. Luxury comes with the price tag, though.

Grand from the outside, but tired in the inside.

Pros: Location and grand appearance. Good but not great gym.
Cons: Premium wifi was extra - lame. Gym was nice but weird to get to. Bar was ridiculously expensive (3x!) compared to all the great places nearby.
Location: Lots to,do in the museum district and and the Plaza Santa Ana and its tapas restaurant scene were nearby and cool places to be.
Stately and great location, BUT, kind of tired on the inside and Very loud in the evening from guests and staff breaking down from night before ore emptying garbage. Staff very nice and allowed us to check in early. Close to many things. Just old and tired and overpriced. Nearby 4 stars would have been preferred for much lower cost.

Elegant classy venue

Pros: The beauty and ambience are world class. The breakfast buffet is excellent as is the lovely and cozy hotel bar, where Hemigway visited.
Location: The location makes it very accessible to the major art museums and shopping district.
The Palace has timeless charm yet impeccable service. The staff goes over and above in its attention to excellent customer service.

All in all an expensive but great hotel in Madrid

Pros: The sense of being at home despite it grandeur style.
Cons: The Rotunda, for a cocktail, breakfast or dinner.
Location: Museum del Prado.
The Westin Hotel Madrid is well located, but if you are driving you have to go around the corner to get to the main lobby. Excellent staff and great foods at la Rotunda.

Great location, great room and great staff.

The hotel is a beautiful piece of Madrid history with an excellent location. You can basically walk everywhere as we did. The room was spacious, clean and beautifully decorated. You feel like you're living in 1912 Madrid. Would highly recommend visiting Madrid and staying in this hotel, as we will next time we're in Madrid.

Wonderful hotel in fantastic location.

Pros: Room and bed comfort, ground floor guest areas, helpful and friendly staff, excellent service. Hotel location.
Cons: Provision of shower caps, cotton wool, slippers and mouthwash in bathrooms.
Location: Prado and Thyssen Boronenisza museums, Royal Palace, Cathedral, superb restaurants and shops.
We loved staying at this beautiful hotel. It is in a fantastic location close to museums, great restaurants and shops. Beds are blissfully comfortable and the rooms are well appointed. The lobby and guest seating/breakfast areas are very impressive. There is only one slight issue in that we did have to request slippers, shower caps, mouthwash and packs of cotton wool. However, they were delivered promptly to the room when requested. It would be great to have these in the room on arrival. That is a very minor point, however, in what was a fantastic stay, both at the beginning and end of our holiday in this beautiful part of Spain.
