Very good hotel overall but food for breakfast very ordinary. Great size of room but beds too small (double instead of queen) and mattress not too comfortable

Great location, but disappointed with facilities

Posted Jul 28, 2017
Pros: Hotel, Interior Design, Friendly staff
Cons: Facilities Maintenance, and provide fridge in every room.
Location: You could basically walk to many of the tourist spots (ie. Millennium Park, Chicago 360, Museum of Contemporary Arts, River North...etc.)
When I checked in, I was assigned to room #309. Room was nice and comfort, but the room didn't have a safe nor a fridge. I went back to the lobby to inform the staff, they quickly transferred me to room #1009 on the 10th floor which had a safe. I was very satisfied with their quick response, but as I stepped into the room, I heard water running in the toilet. I then found out the toilet flush was broken. I then went back down to the lobby with my luggage to let the staff know, once again, they quickly transferred me to a another room (#907). This time all things were good. However, when I needed to use the washroom, I saw unflushed toilet papers in the toilet. It was unpleasant, but no big deal, so I didn't bother telling the staff again. As this room didn't have a normal fridge, I went to the ice room to get some ice. I then found out the ice machine broke down on the 9th floor. So I went up to the 10th floor, but unfortunately it was also not working. Finally, I got some ice on the 11th floor. Fortunately, the ice machine was fixed the next day. After all, the room was comfortable and decent, and hotel location is very convenient too. But with these problems mentioned above, even though they aren't huge issues, but they do make the experience less pleasant.

Note that the breakfast buffet is not complimentary. It's very good, but it's $29.99 per person. That was a bit of a surprise. Everything else is great

Only black mark was the food and in dining experience. Outside of that , the staff was friendly, helpful, and overall amazing. I would stay here every time I come to Chicago.

So-So

Posted Jul 5, 2017
Sort of a myriad of problems here. We checked in with another couple, both of us had booked a river view king, our friend got a 6th floor room with a nice view of . Ours was on the 3rd floor with a view of the roof of the bar, no river in sight. As for the room, it was good sized, clean, and comfortable. But the bathroom was bad. Clearly needs updating; it even has a beige corded phone next to the toilet 80's style. The toilet wouldn't flush because the tank would not refill with water. I had to fill up a glass with sink water and pour it into the tank 15x in order to flush the toilet once. Not exactly a standard I would expect from any hotel I was paying for, let alone a Westin (in a downtown city @ $400/night let alone). The shower also leaked tons of water out of the bottom faucet, causing the shower head to have pitifully low water pressure. When we brought these issues to the front desk's attention, we were told that since we booked through Expedia, that was the room we were given, so we were stuck with it. He explained that they only block certain rooms for third party sites... Even though I'm an SPG member, no luck. Also, the 320 river bar is very expensive, and has zero view of the river unlike the pictures show. To see water you would literally have to get out of your seat and walk to the edge of the space and look down. Still a decent city view, but I just expected it to be a water view. And for $16 for a mixed drink in a rocks glass, it didn't seem worth it

Best location right next to the river!

Posted Jun 22, 2017
Pros: Location
Location: House of Blues is literally across the street, as are many top restaurants, including Bavette's.
We loved this hotel and so happy we chose it. The location is top! Right next to the River and the Dearborn Street bridge. You can take a walk along the beautiful Riverwalk, take a cruise, go to many amazing restaurants/bars/etc..Staff were also so helpful and friendly. We would come back!
