Beautiful Resort

Posted May 9, 2017 on Orbitz
Pros: Very clean, friendly staff and very relaxed environment
Cons: A bit more entertainment after dinner would be nice to have. They do have a Polynesian show twice a week which was very nice.
This resort is absolutely beautiful and very quiet. It is not a big resort at all and so everything is very accessible. It is very quiet and very peaceful if that's the kind of place you are interested in going to. There is basically no nightlife and there is just one restaurant and one bar on the premise. Cocktails at the bar are pretty expensive unless its happy hour which was 5-7pm every night. Otherwise, a cocktail would cost about $16 each which added up quickly. My husband and I made the decision to walk to a supermarket that was 5 minutes away and get some snacks and alcohol which came out to be much cheaper. We just mixed drinks in our room and took them by the pool which was never an issue.

Thank you for staying with us and thank you for sharing your comments . I should admit most of the islands of French Polynesia do not have night life . People here live with the sun . they wackup early and go to bed early . Also we found out that with the change of time zone people are eating early and are going to their bungalow early . When it is 9 Pm here it is already midnight in LAX and people are tired. Happy hour for 5Pm to 7 Pm is a good way of socialise with other. Concerning the price of drinks , they are standard in the hotel business. I do not want people to think that we are overpriced. In the meantime , we are very please that you enjoyed your stay , and be assured that we would like to have the pleasure to welcome you again one of thoses days. Sunny regards and thanks again .

An amazing hotel in a magical place

Posted Apr 27, 2017
Pros: We loved the location, service, staff, amenities and beauty
Cons: We were happy with everything
Location: It is a 5 minute walk from shops, restaurants and a super market. All activities on the island are about 10 minutes drive away
Manama Beach Resort certainly did not disappoint. The location was excellent - close to all attractions and walking distance to shops. The resort was beautiful, intimate and cozy. It had a Tahitian feel to it and was not a large chain type of hotel feeling. It has a nice mix of garden bungalows, beach front bungalows and over the water bungalows. It was so nice to have such friendly, caring staff that went above and beyond to service our needs. We had our 2 kids with us and they had it set up with extra beds at no charge despite the website saying it would be an extra charge. We had an over water bungalow which was out of this world. We jumped off our balcony into the ocean and snorkeled amongst the coral reef just below our bungalow. There was even a glass cut out in the floor of the bungalow that we could see the coral reef and fish below us. The room was always clean and every night the staff would come in to clean it up again and place beautiful flowers on our pillows. On our first night they brought a delicious pineapple cut out and refilled. We rented kayaks and paddle boards and snorkel gear at no charge. This was a dream vacation for us and they certainly delivered on that.

Good stay - can be improved with better service

Posted Mar 19, 2017 on Hotels
We booked a room with a private pool - overall was a pretty good stay. Room itself was nice and spacious, pool was very nice (it was small though) Pool area is lovely - view is slightly blocked by overwater bungalows but its not bad by any means. Manava Beach Resort is in a good location - close to shops / bank / activities etc. Food was pretty good - maybe lacking in a bit of variety. Wifi was disappointing in our room - was barely usable, we had to goto the bar to get proper reception (this was problematic for us as we needed to book things urgently so we wasted lot of time) Frustrating thing we came across was lack of communication, staff didnt inform us of live bands (if we knew there was a live band during one particular night we wouldnt have booked dinner elsewhere - note that im not talking about the scheduled dancing + band twice a week) and also changes in wifi passwords (which wasted time for us)

Thank you for staying with us and for choosing Moorea Manava to spend your vacation. Yes! You are right! But I guaranty that the wifi is truly our N°1 priority, and we are on good tracks to finally solve the problem of connection. The problem is not for the hotel to have the wifi , the problem is to get the technology to allow several dozen of connections in the same time. We work in relation with the island Wifi provider to achieve this goal. Concerning the special band evening, I am sorry that you did not see the flyer we put in each room, and the poster posted at the entrance of the restaurant and bar. But you are probably like me … when I travel; I never read the paper found in my hotel room. Sorry that you missed the special event. Please accept our sincere apologies for this.

Lovely, relaxing atmosphere. Only downside was there was an aquacise class in the pool a couple of afternoons on weekdays with some interesting music.

Beautiful hotel in the lagoon

Posted Feb 26, 2017
Upon arriving, we decided to pay for an upgrade to the bungalows over water. best decision ever. The bungalows are spacious with gorgeous view of the lagoon. The hotel provided us with snorkeling gear and we explored the reef right outside our room. The swimming pool, free use of kayaks and the restaurant were fabulous. The concierge arranged a few activities for us and we were totally delighted with the whole day trip through the lagoon with snorkeling and swimming with the sharks and the sting rays. Lunch on the boat was exquisite.

We had a premium bungalow over the water, and spent an enjoyable 4 days relaxing on our deck. The included breakfast was excellent, and we appreciated the attentive staff who kept our room tidy (with fresh flowers) each day. We also appreciated the excursions staff who helped with dinner bookings and travel assistance.

Nice resort - over water bungalow

Posted Jan 31, 2017
Pros: Location, service, scuba!!!
Cons: Have one bungalow area for adults only. They can be noisy.
Location: Don't know, I only focused on scuba the 2 days I was there.
Excellent! Good experiences with staff - all around. Very helpful. Don't miss the opportunity to get a massage. No fruit fru... as good and deep tissue as my regular massage therapist at home. The scuba diving was fantastic! The dive master and office staff were very helpful recommending dives at other islands I am still visiting. Thank you all for making this a pleasant experience to French Polynesia AND I'll be back know at the end of my trip.

Pros: Location; Overwater bungalows; Sea; Kayaks; View; Swimming pool; Breakfast
Cons: Flexibility with checkout time.
We really loved our stay at the Manava, and especially our overwater bungalow. Really amazing. Service was excellent and swimming pool was great. Thanks. Two remarks, however. First, it's unacceptable for a hotel in this price range the early checkout (11 am). We understand that rooms need to be cleaned and prepared for new guests, but the early checkout (compared to checkin after 2 pm) is simply too early! Second, we are a guy couple, but during our whole stay, we were always referred to as Mr. and Mrs. A. Common, this is 2017 and not 1954! Hotels need to be prepared to receive Mr. A and Mr. B, Mrs. C and Mrs. D and/or Mr. E and Mrs. F. Why the presumption that we were an "ordinary" couple? We checkin and gave our names, but the hotel was unable to correct the names (and gender) during our whole stay...
