Paradise

Posted Jun 12, 2017
Pros: We selected the sanctuary ocean view villa and were rewarded with sweeping ocean views coupled with perfect privacy.
Located on the quiet end of Mahe island, this picturesque resort featured an incredible fine, white sand beach with surprisingly few people. In short, perfect. There were several dining options at the resort and we were particularly impressed with the breakfast presentation each morning. From regional fare to fresh fruit grown on the grounds, to crepes to made-to-order menu options all accompanied by champagne or mimosas, tropical fruit juices, or tea/coffee, this was certainly a strength of this resort. For dinner options, we particularly recommend the cuisine of Chef Rachid Choukki, whose bold flavors and exotic spices in his recently introduced an Arabic menu rivaled our experiences in Dubai. We did not order off the menu, instead asking him to dazzle us with his expertise. We were not disappointed, although there was so much amazing, rich food we struggled to finish! The staff at the Banyan Tree were extremely helpful and genuinely cared about the guests. The manager, Mourad Essafi, took the time to get to know us and focuses the resort on the best guest experience attainable. The reception and concierge desk, and Prisca Lauriti the Guest Relations Manager in particular, not only helped us with resort reservations and activities but also helped us extensively plan and secure island expeditions in our rental car. The conservation center gives guided walks and is working hard against invasive species on the island. At all times we felt safe and cared for.

So good, I almost dont want to share it.

Posted Jun 4, 2017
Pros: Everything, location, staff, villas, food, quiet.
Cons: It was perfect, just wish I could return sooner!
Location: Its quiet, which was just what we wanted. If you want noise, people, jetskis, nightclubs thumping away till early morning, try somewhere else
I've stayed in a lot of hotels in a lot of places, but my time at Banyan Tree, Mahe, rates as one of the best experiences. Quite simply the level of service and attention to detail was superb. Our villa was perfect, charming, roomy, well laid out and kept spotless. Our private pool was fantastic, and offered us plenty of private time away from the equally spectacular main pools. Breakfast was excellant and the meals we had in the hotel were delicious, though most evenings we used our hire car to explore and try other places. You get what you pay for, the Seychelles is not recommended for those on a tight budget, but I can't think of another desination that has been as relaxing, safe, stunning and friendly as this one and the wonderful experience provided by Banyan Tree tied all this together into a most memorable holiday.

Authentic experiences, magnificent villa, but...

Posted May 6, 2017
We had the hilltop Sanctury Ocean villa, amazing! Definitely WOW when we first entered. Private pool, hot tub, and the villa itself has the African local feel to it. Quite authentic experiences. 1) had a massage, quite good, but the massage therapist seemed to have a cold or allergy, so she sneezed a lot. I was worried if she might pass on her cold to me. The massage service itself was good. 2) in villa dining items are very expensive. But the quality was good. We liked all the dishes I ordered. 3) I accidentally swallowed some water from our private pool and a couple of hours later I threw up. Can't really say it was directly related, but I couldn't figure out what else might have caused me sick. 4) the front office staff service level is definitely not up to par at this price-level. Most of them were nice but one lady was definitely not in the mood for a smile and we couldn't really get timely help from her. We overheard another guest was also complaining about the service in the lobby. 5) the waves on the beach were too strong to swim in. They had signs advising against swimming. So if you are looking for quality ocean time, it might not be the best location for you. Overall, we loved the Sanctury Ocean view Villa, the hotel infinity pool, and the hotel food was decent.

Beautiful beach close from hotel, but can not swimming because of high waves. Hotel facilities are very old and room cleaning also not good. Have 3 restaurants, but quality of food.....for me really disappointed

Dear Daniel Thank you for your review of your recent stay at the Banyan Tree Hotel. We are sorry that you could not enjoy the blue sea due to the high waves. At times Mother Nature is not too kind to us! Banyan Tree Seychelles is a classic and refashioned hotel and our aim is to provide the best possible service to all our guests. We are sorry that the food in all the restaurants were not to your expectations. We would love the opportunity to have you as our guest should your travels bring you back to Banyan Tree. Best wishes

Great hotel

The hotel is great for relaxation but you might find in your room lizard and insects because the villa is in the jungle

Dear valuable guest, Thanks a lot for your rating. Despite strong pest control in place and being in a tropical island, you might experience to face a small lizard but rest reassure that they are totally inoffensive. Franck Seguin General Manager

Excellent view and white sand beach

This hotel was nice. We stayed at the beachside villa and the view was excellent. The food items were not so good. Breakfast was very limited and hotel has only two restaurants.

Dear Abu, Thanks for having shared your feedback. Allow us to rectify that we have 3 restaurants and not 2 at the Resort (Thai, Creole and International). I will make sure that proper information will be given to our guests next time. Best regards. Franck Seguin - General Manager

Room service staff will enter to your room with one nook to the door even if you didn't answer ,, just make sure to put do not disturb to avoid this.

The worst experience at the most expensive price

Posted Sep 18, 2016 on Hotels
The worst holiday I've ever had. For $1000 a night hotel this is what we got - a filthy room, a broken window which let in hundred of mosquitos + was a safety issue and when asked to be fixed was taped up with masking tape, constant power cuts which left you waking up in the middle of the night sweating as there was no air conditioning & we had to pack in the dark when we left at 5am due to no power, the food was terrible, $20 for blended veggies for our baby daughter etc. etc. I have never been so disgusted in my life, for a hotel charging >$1000/ day this is totally unacceptable

Beautiful location with excellent amenities.

Posted Sep 17, 2016
Pros: location, views, accommodations and the food.
Cons: Buggy service and deliveries are hit or miss. Buggy service did not show up or items ordered show up in 1 1/2 hrs rather than the 15-30 mins promised.
Location: Beautiful Mahe island. White sandy beaches and also marsh lands.
Spent our 20 Year anniversary at this location and it was certainly worth it. The location, views and accommodations are excellent. They offer a 4 course meal on the beach which is a must do. Dintap (waiter) stood by just in case we needed anything during our 2 hour dinner. The food was amazing and the service as well.
