Only if you HAVE to stay in Mahebourg for a night.

I stayed for one night only and thank god did I only book one night. I got one of the new rooms at the back: nice and spacious, with a great view over the river. However, you couldn't lock the terrace door (the owner recommended to just leave the terrace door unlocked..) or the real door from the outside (both doors could be locked from the inside though!). There was no Wifi in the room, so you had to go to the family's living room. There are about 3-5 cats roaming around, one of the reasons why I couldn't enjoy my breakfast as I just can't eat somewhere with cats around. And after seeing the kitchen (outside) I wasn't too sad, as hygienic standards are something else.
My room was very clean, the AC worked just fine. The owners were.. well, honestly I didn't find them very pleasant. Tried to scam me over money (claimed they never received part of my payment, did apologize afterwards though. I just didn't like their first reaction, very defensive), couldn't really give any information on the island. I just wanted to leave.
Honestly, there are better choices in Mahebourg and I didn't see any reason whatsoever to stay there anyway for a night. Better to go to another direction straight away from the airport.
