Views are amazing, staff is great exceeding in details, very informative, food is amazing although pricier than the rest of the area. Great for a romantic getaway. The cocktails are the best we've ever had--Andrea makes the best interesting drinks, "chicha del chef" etc. The rooms are cleaned spotless with small details of flowers, flower petals on bed, etc. The bed and view are spectacular. The patio with hammock, private pool, comfy couches--great for relaxing with partner including personal fountain. Can't wait to go back.

You don't expect to find this sort of luxury hotel in a relatively remote location. The staff was superbly nice to us and helped with a bunch of things (e.g. we told them that we'd need to checkout really early and they made sure that our breakfast was ready and boxed before we left). We didn't have a chance to dine in their famous restaurant with fantastic view, but will sure do the next time. It was a tad pricier than other hotels around but you'll understand why that is once you enter one of their rooms.

Helpful staff, amazing views, very clean and modern rooms. Great common area for socializing and watching the sunsets. Romantic if you're into that sort of thing...
Only challenge is the road going up, but if you have a 4x4, bike or ATV (quad) you'll be fine....same goes for most roads in the area.
Could use a second fan or air conditioning but otherwise no complaints.
Check out the secret beach nearby and the hotel with the pool just down from this location for sunsets, drinks and socializing.

We reserved this hotel without too much expectations. It was supposed to be a place to put ourselves to sleep in the very first night, but we ended up extending our stay. The hotel was located in a gorgeous location within woods, with a wonderful ocean views. We happen to wake up early one morning only to watch a small group of capuchin monkeys having their breakfast less than a hundred feet away from us. One evening we went our room to change clothes after a day of swimming, and spend an extra half hour watching sunset from our hammocks. The owner lady (who was a fan of Turkish soap operas) was exceptionally nice to us, and helped with everything from renting bikes to directing us to the best lunch location in Mal Pais (Which is about 10 minutes walking distance from the hotel). The Costa Rican breakfast was also very authentic. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends who would want to visit Mal Pais.
