Lovely five star hotel with lots to do around. Staff were polite and very helpful and would go out of their way to help. Lots of options at breakfast. Some of the restaurants/facilities were closed. Shower at the indoor pool is disappointing, needs attention and Air-conditioning unit was not working so the room was a bit warm. A fan was brought to make us feel welcome. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Right from check in to check out the staff were very friendly but efficient. We had Opal lounge and all the staff were very polite and accommodating with any requirements. The Paranga restaurant staff very very welcoming and service was excellent. We were not happy with the manager at Waterbiscuit restaurant, he was very arrogant.

This hotel is horrible. Dark little rooms, buried 7 floors below sunlight - that is the garden rooms here. Pool is tiny and inadequate, nestled next down to a skyscraper under construction, worker leering over your wife as she bathes. Smells of damp in the rooms. Staff are however nice and you make the best of it. Terrible music playing everywhere

The hotel staff were very excellent and very attentive. Especially once they knew my son had a nut allergy. They proceeded to clearly mark the ingredients on the food counter and on occasion when we dined in , they prepared his food separately. There is a lot of construction in and around the hotel which makes it a bit noisy on occasion was the only downside.

Maintenance being carried out at 8:30am wasn’t the wake up call we had in mind. In addition to this the pool bar staff were very unorganised and didn’t seem to understand how to make the cocktails which are on the menu and were unable to correct the issue. The over all service was lacking from what you would expect from the 5star hotel and felt more holiday inn level of service. Having now been to the area I think I would consider a number of other hotels over this one.

The hotel itself is very nice, mostly clean, in good condition and with good facilities. However the immediate area is basically clubland. It’s noisy, dirty, and at night sometimes intimidating.

This has honestly been a once in a lifetime holiday. I have never come across such incredible staff. Nothing was ever too much and they all went out of their way to make sure we were happy, from gluten free food options to chocolates to help bribe my fussy son to eat and everything in between. Not a 5 Star experience at all. Hotel is NOT located on a private beach as per listing. Hotel actually has very small roped off section of St Julian's public beach located in the towns tiny cove. Location of hotel is approx 300 metres away in the middle of a very busy street that is part of a one way system with heavy vehicle use. There is an extraordinary amount of high rise construction in the area immediately surrounding the hotel. It is noisy, dusty and vehicle access to the hotel is frequently restricted by lorries delivering materials to the construction sites. Given the proximity and volume of construction in the area we feel the hotel should make guests aware at the time of booking as there is no doubt that it made it very difficult to enjoy our stay. As a heads up, the hotel opposite is advertising that their building work is not expected to complete until Summer 24. I would also caution families with young children against using the hotel. St Julians is a busy resort with a very established adult night life. The hotel hosts single sex groups of young adults who were noisy and inconsiderate of other guests when they left the hotel in the evening (circa 11.30pm), came back in the morning (from 4.30am) and at breakfast where it was clear they had been out partying all night and had come to sober up. Perhaps as a result of the above the hotel looks and feels tired. The decor and general maintenance is below par all of which contributed to the less than 5 star experience

The Opal Lounge team were very friendly and helpful - so a great kudos to them for making our stay really enjoyable. Our spacious room was cleaned with fresh supplies of Toiletries and water bottles everyday - wow so happy with that cos we had a family room with 6 of us in it. We had easy access to buses and cabs so getting around wasnt bad at all. We got great value for the money paid which covered room accommodation, access to facilities, breakfast, afternoon treats and pre-dinner for all 6 of us. Overall i would highly recommend this hotel and i would certainly go back again if I visit Malta in future.

Not up to Inetrcontinental standards
There is a serious humidity problem at the hotel in general. We had to change the room, it got slightly better but still very humid and it was hard to sleep. Staff is really nice and breakfast is ok but aprat from those the condition of the hotel is definitely not up to the Inetrcontinental standards throughout the world.

Great option for both business and pleasure
Great that the hotel has been renovated. For business this is a very good option in Malta. You also have pools and access to a beach. Sometimes it can be noisy because of the nightclubs nearby.

THe hotel is really great and the restaurant staff were really first class. ONe small negative was the private beach area which played the same terrible music sequence every day at top volume. In fact when i went for walks up the hill on the otherside of the bay i could still hear it. Totally unnecessary to have the loud music, especially as it was such a terrible choice

Staff are great and really helpful. You have the choice of an outdoor pool with sun loungers, or beach club (which is small) but a nice alternative to the pool. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The indoor pool seems to have become a childrens play area more than a swimming pool, and the stream room actually had quite a lot of tiles missing off the seat, which could actually cut you if you sat on them and this really needs sorting. Be mindful that the area seems to have become the spot for 'gentlemens clubs' that are right at the back of the hotel. It's the walk through to Spinola Bay where you will definitely want to go for those waterside restaurants. And really isn't a nice walk behind the hotel and doesn't feel very safe.
