Nice hotel great location but rooms needs a proper refurb and even window curtains had holes in it .... Great price, breakfast option limited to "english breakfast" some more local breakfast product will be great, great coffee.... the best experience we had with hotel restaurant, great prices and the best octopus in garlic we ever had ... thank you ...

In heart of st julians
For the price hotel you pay you cant expect mych. unfortunately in the room there was so much dust and for a person who suffers from allergies it was a nightmare. Overall hotel is in a great location. Staffs are friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fresh and tasty. Restaurant hotel offers discount for meals and food in rokna restaurant was very delicious.

Bad and slow internet, not possible to stream. Small rooms and old funitures. The bathrooms is very small too.

Very close to everything, including the beach.
This is a good area to be, as mentioned you are next to everything. Check in times need to be changed... it's currently 2PM and checkout is 11:30AM.

Large enough double room. Nice and clean. Very basic. Bed comfy enough. Fridge was very handy but missed the tea, coffee making facilities. Room service was available. Had balcony. Unfortunately during our stay there was building work being carried out across the road so could be noisy between 6.30am and 6pm during the week.

Mini break
Hotel a little dated, very basic but clean, only downside was a massive building being built stopping sunlight to balcony and level of noise from club goers and boy racers congregating down side of hotel, we were woken both nights between 2 and 5 am several times, room 122 would not be a room if want to stay in again! However the staff were friendly, restaurant attached to hotel, food was beautiful and the breakfast was lovely, the waiter in the mornings couldn’t do enough for you, on The whole, I would stay there again!

Rokna in January 18
Second trip to Malta but my first stay at the rokna hotel. First impressions very good very easy check in and friendly staff member on the front desk. Room with a balcony overlooking the road not too noisy. It is noted that there is construction going across the road but it didn’t bother me. Bathroom small but it worked, room was a good size. Everybody I spoke to or had any interaction with was very pleasant. Would recommend this place.

St julians stay
Only an overnight stay in the St Julian’s area, locality good, staff amazing but the room was disappointing 😔 shower had no power and was very very small, room had a window but no natural light as it opened into a ventilation shaft?

Thank you for your comment All our rooms do have natural light with floor to ceiling windows so I am not sure what room you had. The bathroom windows all open into a shaft which is the norm in Malta. We would have gladly changed your room had you informed our staff that you were unhappy as we do not like to have unhappy guests. I hope you enjoyed your stay in Malta.

Basic hotel with pleasant staff
The room was basic and reasonable cleanliness. The air conditioning was a little weak making it hard to achieve a pleasant temperature. Breakfast also basic but adequate. The room definitely could do with some updating to make it a great experience. However, the staff were always very pleasant and went out of their way to be helpful.

Hotel Staff were excellent regarding helpfulness. Breakfast Staff excellent all needs fulfilled. Reception staff understanding regarding my late returns to hotel after football and socialising. I have no qualms with Rokna and would easily book a return

PROS: Awesome location, excellent service with a great breakfast and surrounding restaurants. Very comfortable mattress. CONS: small dorm sized rooms & unreliable WiFi......at least on the 4th floor.

we booked twin room and but when we arrive at evening they gave us a double bed room. and they insist about they are right! after long arguments gave us a twin room at first floor which is really noisy and uncomfortable. shower was broken. I do not recommend this hotel

Welcome Again
Second time was even better than first. Upgraded without asking. Staff member went out of her way to show me how to fold towels in a fancy manner. Very impressive!! Felt very safe in the location and everything I needed or wanted was within walking distance. Entire staff catered to all my needs with a smile. Will be returning again and again

Excellent location! And the room was pleasant. The staff were exceedingly helpful. One thing that I would recommend is that they provide slippers for guests. In the winter the floors are like ice!

Great place near the party.
I have been to Malta before so I don't about doing the tourist stuff. I came for the nightlife. This hotel is an easy 6 minute walk to the center of the action. A added plus is restaurant has probably the best pasta I've had in recent memory. Only negative is that it's a little loud a sparatic times because of traffic and loud cars, but nothing over bearing.

Beautiful little hotel right in the middle of things. Easy walk to the beach and harbour and right round the corner from local pubs, and loads of tourist bars on the strip. Far enough away to be quiet though. Staff are great, did anything I needed. Breakfast fresh and tasty. Pizzeria underneath awesome, you get 10% off too. They even have a bathroom/shower in a changing area you can use after checking out, was much needed after a day of sightseeing before flying home. Would definitely stay again.

Very noisy location
The Rokna Hotel is situated in an extremely noisy part of town, which makes a good nights sleep almost impossible. Throughout the night and well into the early hours cars could be heard driving up and down the road with loud exhausts. The sounding of car horns was also a regular occurance any time up to 5am. The hotel is also situated close to the main nightlife spots, which also affects the quality of your nights sleep due to the sound of drunken folk walking to and from clubs well into the early hours. The Rokna Hotel is ideally located for the public transport network and is only a short distance from the bus stop. The hotel surroundings are pleasing on the eye and numerous restaurants can be found locally. My room was in need of a little TLC. It was run down and tired, and required a good coat of paint. The room was basic and had an air conditioning unit mounted above the room door, which was in working order, but badly positioned as it only cooled a small portion of the room and not the main sleeping area. The staff were friendly and helpful, but often needed a little encouragement to acknowledge my existence as I passed through the main lobby. Breakfast was good, though a little more variety would have been welcome. The breakfast staff were extremely courteous throughout my stay.

Comfy hotel in ideal location.
From the friendly and hassle free check in to check out my stay at Ir Rokna Hotel was comfortable and relaxing. Ideally located for buses, a stroll down to Spinola Bay or, if it's more your thing, to Paceville and the nightlife. Would be more than happy to stay again.

Traveling for a girl's weekend vacation, we found this hotel to be in a secure location. Convenient to shopping, casino, sightseeing, eating places, tours, etc. Breakfast ( hot and cold) was included in the price of the hotel room. Rooms were very clean and spacious. Would recommend this hotel to family and friends and I am looking forward to returning again and again.

Well worth it for the price.
For a basic hotel it was a pleasant experience. The rooms, especially the bathroom, could use a little updating. However, it was clean, air conditioned and ultimately comfortable. I would recommend it to a friend if they were also travelling on a budget.

Great Location
The Rokna Hotel is well located at the junction to the Hilton Hotel and the casino, littered with many restaurants and shops selling souvenirs and basic amenities (sundries). The Hard Rock Cafe is a 10-15 minutes walk, located amongst a huge shopping complex. Basically the Rokna Hotel is right smack in the tourist centre of St. Julians. From our windows facing the street, we can see the Hilton and the casino but the sea is just a few minutes walk from the Rokna Hotel. The hotel is a 3-Star facility with a helpful receptionist but the hot water in our room seems to be depleted faster than expected. The room is small as expected and is generally kept clean. The weather while we're there i.e. mid-January 2015 was bad with light rain throughout the day and night amidst a temperature between 10-15 degree Celsius.

Nice hotel. Very helpful staff
Stayed here for a total of 5 weeks spread over the autumn 2014. Used it as a base for scuba diving with Techwise. There is a supermarket opposite the hotel, and a good selection of restaurants and bars nearby.

Ronka is just wrongka!
The room was not cleaned to an acceptable standard. There was old soap bars open in the shower - the shower was very basic, dated and old. There was a open and used deodorant can from a previous guest, I am guessing. Overall, it's a hotel that I wouldn't wish to stay at again

I received a warm welcome, the front desk staff were always polite and friendly. The maid service was good, and they were very polite and friendly too. I didn't get to try the food there, as I was pretty much using it just as a base to sleep.

Al Rokna The room we had was small with a very small bathroom and although we expected more from the decor, the staff more thn made up for it. Super friendly and knowledgable . They supply gluten free bread pasta and cereals on request. The room has hair dryer next to mirror, ample storage and safe as well as good sir con! You can also ask for an iron and board should need arise. The local bus stop is about two minutes away by foot and takes you to main citites including sliema and Valletta which are both beautiful harbour towns, as is st Juliana! Although on a busy ish road, the balcony doors kept most of it out and we had no problem sleeping ( I'm a light sleeper) the bed was comfortable but they could do with some new mattresses ( which did have protectors!!) and pillows need to be upgraded for my liking as they were lumpy. There is a largish fridge in the room and the local supermarket is 30 m down the road . There are numerous cafés all around and a large building almost opposite means you never get lost; you can even see it from Valletta ! Our room was east facing so morning sunshine making it easy to get up and go! The balcony has chairs and table where you can watch people go by and the rather strange driving habits if the lovely Maltese people! The 222 bus takes an hour to get to ferries on to Gozo the ferry takes 25 mins the buses are regular every 30 mins , ferry every 45 mins. The buses are two minutes walk round corner from hotel Buses 12/13 take you to sliema with shopping centre and on to Valletta 7 day bus ticker cost only 6.90 euro can be used all the time

we had a most pleasant experiance at the rokna and st julians, possibly the best 3 star hotel we have stayed in. There is a lot going on and places to see in the area.
