Needs updating

Can't fault the staff for their friendliness. However the room was a little jaded and the electric shower was poor. There was a lack of water pressure and it was impossible to get the temperature to remain constant. The shower cubicle was dirty, particularly the shower hose, which had black rings of dirt trapped in it.

overnight stay

Posted Nov 18, 2016
Location: Situated on the outskirts of Malton but within easy walking distance of the town. Good raod access to near-by attractions.
The email said to ring before check-in - so we rang..... and rang.... and rang - No response! Very disappointed when we saw the room and the girl explained that in order to access the "private bathroom" we had to leave the room, go down 2 steps, across the passageway to another room and then up 2 steps. This was not clearly explained on the website and was not acceptable to us to we had to upgrade to a more expensive room. The 2nd room was better but the bathroom needed some TLC - the extractor fan was full of dust and cobwebs, the shower head rail was loose and the shower head was dirty and needed cleaning. There was no door knob on one of the wardrobe doors. We have stayed in many hotels over the years, this was probably the most expensive and definitely one of the worst. On the plus side -the beds were clean and comfortable and the full English breakfast was very good.

Could be a little gem but needs a refurb

Posted Aug 30, 2016 on Hotels
Very quaint village inn, chocolate box pretty, but the interior needs badly upgrading to be able to charge £70 per double room. We understand these old buildings have quirky rooms but dirty showers and old coffee stains running down the bathroom door frame can easily be rectified by a good clean. So neglect sprung to mind, we didn't complain as the bed was comfy with lovely clean white sheets and the cooked breakfast was great. Service was a haphazard affair with bar staff seemingly doubling up as reception staff and rushed as shifts were changing. We viewed it as a bed for the night and served its purpose.
