Close to the mall

The hotel is so close to the mall so you can just walk back and forth if you ever need anything. I was just disappointed with the lunch buffet, I was expecting more selections and varieties of food. The price of the hotel room per night for me is just right, I don't mind staying in this hotel again.

Comfortable hotel near shopping malls

Pros: Hotel public spaces had great ambiance. Gym was very well equipped and had spinning, Zumba , yoga & Pilates classes available for hotel guests.
Cons: Service staff at the Heat restaurant need to be more efficient & attentive to guest needs e.g. had to wait for 20 minutes for coffee & water.
Location: Location was perfect if you want shopping. Next to two shopping malls.
Eight days stay was comfortable and generally enjoyable except for a few concerns. At the Heat restaurant, we had to wait for coffee & water for 20 minutes on two separate days even after requesting it from two separate service staff. The selection in the buffet tables in the second venue (due to large number of guests for the day) were limited & therefore was not fair since guests in the main dining & second venue paid the same price for the buffet. Overall, the staff efficiency, warmth, and welcoming attitude at the hotel was noted to be less than all our previous stays. Staff were not as welcoming as before. Hope this is a one off event since it is for the warmth & service of the staff that made us choose Shangri-La as our home away from home.

Nice and reasonably priced.

Pros: Everything is excellent in this hotel. Location, closeness to malls and easy to find. Stayed in this hotel many times before.
Cons: Nothing needs improvements. The hotel is excellent. They just have to maintain their quality accommodations.
Location: Location is perfect. Closeness to nearby businesses is a plus.
Overall experience with the hotel was excellent. The staff are friendly. helpful and accommodating. The negative experience was with Expedia. When room was booked, breakfast was included but at hotel check in, I was informed that the breakfast was NOT included. Very disappointing and expensive. Wish they would follow this up and ensure the reservation is 100% correct.

Showing its age(newer hotels are now in this area)

Pros: The room rate obtained online was reasonable.
Cons: The carpets and decor could be refurbished, the service in the lobby restaurant/cafe area is so painfully slow some food ordered arrived cold.
Location: Located adjacent to a shopping mall and restaurants/cafes etc. with other malls within walking distance. Just as well,as the traffic is horrendous!
Another one of the grand old style hotels in Manila that has become somewhat run down. The carpets in the hallways and rooms were faded, worn and a little disheveled in some areas. The furniture looked considerably dated, and the upholstery on the chair in the room was torn. I reported this to the management who replaced it, but strangely after a few days they put the same chair back in my room again without any repair. The room itself on the positive side was clean and quiet, with no problems with outside noise from traffic etc. Had a reasonably sized flat screen TV mounted on the wall, however the reception was not perfectly clear on some channels. Also, it had universal power adapter sockets on the walls, although I could only find two USB charging ports that were both located on the computer desk area, not next to the bed as in some of the newer boutique style hotels. Additionally, there was no charging cable with multi-plug support for iPhone/Android cell phones or tablets that I've also seen in the more modern hotels. The bathroom area incorporated an adjustable height detachable shower head behind a glass door/screen, which separated the shower from the rest of the room. It also had a standard size western toilet (which became blocked after first use), and a wash basin/mirror area that again looked clean but dated in style compared to the newer hotels. Overall, the bathroom area was not overly large compared to some other 'so called' five star establishments.

Luxury Hotel That Will Not Break Your Pocket

Hotel is centrally located. We stayed before flying out from NAIA. Check-in was very fast and efficient, room was immaculately clean. Bed was comfortable. I slept like a baby. Shower has good pressure and plenty of hot water. Mall is comnected to the hotel and lots of restaurants to choose from. I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay here again. Thank you for a great stay.

Pros: The service from the Shangri-la staff is excellent! The Health Club facility is very nice too.
Cons: Fried fish odor fr restaurant near lobby too overpowering; TV picture quality in room was poor; Would visit more but PI needs solution to EDSA traffic
Location: It was so convenient to cross the street to the Shangri-la Plaza shopping center. There were many delicious restaurants & The Spa was excellent!
Stayed for 2 nights. Friendly, helpful staff -- esp Adrian who took care of our luggage and made time to point me in the direction of the fastest walking route to my appt at the Shangri-la Plaza. If not for his suggestions, I would have been late! My teenage son enjoyed the MMA training equipment available at the health club center. Woke up one morning to smell of fried fish in the room... same odor I smelled in the lobby - probably coming from nearby restaurant. It disappeared after a while... guessing odor came through AC ventilation
