Ameritania Hotel at Times Square5/5 Excellent"When I read a review - I want to know six things: 1) The room was clean - sheets & towels were clean. I vu always check for cleanliness etc upon arrival - the room for the bill. 2) Yes it was a small room, but it was set up efficiently. Plenty of closet hangers. A clean drawer to unpack things. 3) it was the right proximity to times square, not directly on it, but easy walk to central park, food, doorman got us the cab we needed when we needed it, easy to get on the subway. 4) We arrived very late due to terrible flights, there were enough helpful people with a good attitude to take care of things. I need some convenience, despite my budget not allowing me to book high end. 5) I really needed a getaway. But on a modest budget. This was a reasonable solution - so much in NYC feels like a $ scam, this hotel was comfortable & reasonable. They did not charge extra to keep bags in storage after checkout (some obnoxious hotels do). Was very easy and secure. 6) Free morning coffee always ran out, they could up their game on some of the little things like free coffee, there were no plug outlets available in the lobby. I wish the elevator was a bit more secure - people didn't always need to swipe room key i. order to get to the room floors - security should be a bit of a higher priority.
